I have suffered from minor technical difficulties.

But I'm back now.

2 days further if we travel at a good pace before we come to the location we're meant to settle. Were on the outer edge of the Gnolls border.

I'm so confused.
You think YOU'RE confused?

"This is an excellent place. We're settling down in this area, correct?"

((Finally, my character might be able to do something! Anything important I missed in the past...~10 pages?))
((I asked if you wanted me to try to train you in polearms. Another summon was put into a pokeball binding. Kyle flirted at people.))
So...eh, not much?
Carl would have politely declined, explaining that he doesn't intend to spend his time in direct combat, instead spending time making everyone else better or else making it unneeded.

Lucien looks over at Carl, "Still have two days of journey to go. We are just stopping here for the night."
Gorram it. Why aren't we stopping in Paradise Valley, again?

We stopped here because it's night time. Don't wanna walk around unknown territory in the dark. Not far to go now and you'll get a couple of things to do along the way.

And the reason we're not time-skipping is probably because we're going to make first contact with the gnolls, monsters, or somesuch before we actually reach our destination to reinforce that this is terra incognita.  Maybe if Carl is looking for something to do, judging by your OOC comment, he can look at something like designing something to let us quickly hook the wagons together into a proper tabor, get some portable tools and suchlike ready so that he can unpack them once we arrive, tinker with assorted small crafts, or the like.  I'm sure we don't have to wait to actually arrive for him to flex his crafting muscles.  ^_^

No, I mean why aren't we settling here? The GM described it as follows:
As night begins to set in, the caravan arrive at the edge of the Llanwrton Vale. Looking out over the land in front of them, the group discover the land trully does look like a paradise.
Why are we leaving the paradise to go deep into gnoll territory?

Oh. Well I'd assume they picked a location that was more defensible. Or had a wider variety of natural resources or something like that.

Either way what you need to consider is why we stopped here specifically on the border of territory claimed by a hostile group.

We aren't leaving it.  We're going deeper into it, I thought.

I understand that; what I don't understand is why we're going deeper in.

We are? Don't we have two days of travel left?

We are. The entire vale is the paradise. Which the Gnolls laid claim to. I guess the idea was for us to settle near the center not on the edge.

Merthy woods has a loooot of tall trees, high yield fruit trees fertile ground, and is very defensible. Also, it is very plot relevant.

Why is it so defensible? And why is it "plot-relevant"?

But that would have spoilers oAo

Anyways, It is defensible because of the large number of trees already forming a natural pallisade.

Plot relevant is because of the proximity it is to the big bad and the bigger bad.

1. We don't know the plot-relevant stuff, so why does that matter?
2. Actually, that sounds pretty bad.
3. Trees are a pretty terrible "natural palisade" if they're less than redwoods. Have you ever been to a natural forest?

Well being in a forest is bad period. Obstructed sight lines at every turn will get you killed. We don't have the numbers to cover it properly. Open ground around a high ground position is far more defensible when your low in number.
