WW2 Normandy Invasion (CM:BFN Community Game)

Right! Hello people, most of you may/will/shouldnt even know me, I'm a long time lurker, intended to start a game here a long while ago which well...got fucked because I didnt have the time to calculate stuff, so this time, I'm making stuff easier for yourself. I'm using the game Combat Mission: Battle for Normandy to create small scenarios and battles, players (aka you) will take over parts of units which will be kept throughout the games and are able to buy additional equipment/experience and other fun stuff! So for the start I'll be taking 4 players, each with their own small team at the start.

Platoon Lead is going to assign/buy new units, and is responsible for calling in mortar support and airstrikes, you have 24 hours for each turn with the first turn starting once we have 3 players.
There will be a mission briefing in front of each mission telling you about the objective, friendly forces, enemy forces and so on.
 You can upgrade your own troops by increasing their morale and experience, as well as your own leadership skills, rules for this will be posted once we get past the first mission, as of now all of your troops have a HIGH morale since the fighting just started and their experience is on a REGULAR level.
Turns should roughly resemble 1-2 minutes worth of time. (Exceptions may be done at the start of the mission)
Dead troops are taken into account after each battle, resupply is given for each mission and a unit will never fall below 50% troop strength if it is not completey destroyed. (However, units survivng a mission with just 1 or 2 survivors will count as completely destroyed).

Options that you can choose in turns: (As given by the game engine)
-Crawl
-Walk
-Jog
-Sprint
-Hunt (Crouch and go slowly, engage all enemies)
-Assault (Bounding movement, only for units as big as squads, if you wish to perform a bounding movement with another player, then tell me, as long as you are in the same squad this is possible)

-Light suppresive fire (No use of AT etc., MG is still firing)
-Heavy suppresive fire
-Cone of fire (Units will look at and preferrably engage targets in the cone)
-Target (Self explanatory)
-Face

And then of course, dismount, mount. Wounded troopers are healed if there are friendlies close, ammo from dead bodies is gathered when they stand arround them. You can split up and reintegrate squads into teams.

Example for a post:

I tell my guys to hold position at the treeline that we are currently occuyping, watching the buildings to our front. Once the rifle team has moved up be start sprinting across the field to the nearest bulding, taking cover from enemy fire. If possible they start to supress the target.

I would ask why fire can burn two men to death without getting hot enough to burn a book, but then I read "INEXTINGUISHABLE RUNNING KAMIKAZE RADIOACTIVE FLAMING ZOMBIE" and realized that logic, reason, and physics are all occupied with crying in the corner right now.

Gah, I'd be interested in joining this but my net should be cutting out in a few days. Damn, I always seem to miss the fun ones. Anyways, PTW.

Got 2 down! If we can get a leader for either the B.A.R. section (Supress people! Be awesome!) or the Rifle section (Kill shit by going in and...do stuff! Have many people!) then we can start today. C'mon guys. If noone signs up till tomorrow I will start with the 2 of you, briefing is being prepared as we speak.

Mission 1 - Village Combat Patroll

We - Members of the 81st Airborne, B Company, 2nd Platoon are to make a combat patrol into a nearby village in order to find and destroy german elements falling back to these positions. We have close to no intel about the enemy situation and positions- but we know that we fight remnants of a german light infantry platoon. By our knowledge  they are exhausted and slightly demoralized, but still pretty good in terms of ammunition and equipment. Proceed with cautions, we want to take the least amount of casualties possible, this is our first mission apart from the landings beforehand, our own troops are still pretty much green in terms of combat experience but have recieved good training. Plan your attack carefully and then execute it on your own.

((For this turn turns should roughly resemble a timeframe of 2 minutes, remember to tell me in which ways you want the troops to move, walking? croching? crawling? I'll try to form all of your turn orders into the most efficient turn, aka issuing wait orders when required so your guys cover each other etc. if you do not want that, then state it. (eg: I want my guys just sprinting up to that woods, then going to a crouchwalk from there, carefully moving up with the target of...) in that way It's easier for me to make the turns as you wanted them to be, thanks! I will post an update once all of you are done, so either this evening or tomorrow.))

 2nd Lieutenant Anderson stands and addresses his platoon element.

"Alright men, this'll be a tough job, but we have surprise and strength on our side. Now here's the plan. Corporal Jackson; you and your men will head south of our position into the woodline, and take up positions along the hedgerow facing the farmhouse. Proceed with caution, there may be scattered troops within the house.

Private Bell, you will take your fireteam and head out to the west, following the hedgerow and curving south again towards the western facing of the house. Same caution applies- be watchful for the enemy fire.

I will stay on the northern side of the house, to provide tactical support and reinforcement to either of you that make contact. I may not have the firepower to provide full support, so hopefully we won't be in such a situation.

Now, our objective for now is the farmhouse - the most likely area of enemy operation. We will flank and use the hedgerows to our advantage, but always be alert for enemy inside the entire AO.

Riley and the browning team will head to the east with Corporal Jackson, and provide covering fire for the assault. Corporal, you have autonomy to give commands to him since you can see the situation better than I, but remember your Objective and stay alert.

Now, if we make it into position without contact, we will proceed with an attack on the farmhouse. Private Bell will provide distracting and covering fire from the western facing, and act as a secondary assault force if needed. Corporal Jackson will assault the farmhouse from the east, with the support of Riley and his browning crew. I will provide support where necessary. Any questions?"


lay down our battle plan to the men. When all questions are answered, me and the HQ element will jog to the farmhouse north of the area.

Background:
James R. Riley grew up in the eastern mountains of Kentucky hearing his father regale him with stories of the first world war. He has always wanted to become as solider and fight in wars unlike his two older brothers who became coal miners. At the outbreak of world war two his attitude was only ever described as anxious waiting for America to join the war so he could go kick him some Nazi ass. But as 1941 came around the corner he began to worry America would never join the War. After he heard news of pearl harbor while the west of the nation was in shock or horrified Brooks was elated he was in under an hour of hearing the news in his local recruiting office ready to get shipped off to boot camp.

The only unit left is the automatic rifleman one which has a PFC as a leader, so I need your sheet updated with the names of the guys in there, a little more background would be nice, too.

About what game it is (totally forgot it in my main post) it's combat mission: battle for normandy

@Whitius - By my reckoning going SE leads off the map - or is that just my reading of the compass?

@Caelyth - I appear to have been promoted to Sgt. (it was Cpl. In the OP I think) - is that intentional?
