What research options should we go for, now that we can actually get some interesting ones going?
Should we try Experimental Warfare, which unlocks the Foundry; Beam Weapons for Laser Weapons; or Carapace Armour?

Foundry, then armor. We seem to take a lot of hits.

The terror mission is going to be a horror movie.

My vote goes to beam weapons.  Armor only protects one soldier, weapons protect the whole squad.  The foundry is too much time/money for what it offers us at the moment.

You misspelled seance.  Are possessing Draignean?  Are you actually a ghost in the shell? You have to tell us if you are, that's the rule

I agree, lasers then armor. The last party got wiped out when three+ groups of aliens were activated. If the aliens die faster, it becomes less of a problem.

That's 2 votes for lasers -> armour and 1 vote for foundry -> armour.

Needs anti-chrysalid beams.

I agree as well. Taking on Chryssalids without proper beam weapons is a dicey proposition.

That's 5 votes for lasers, looks like that's what I'll get them to research ASAP.

I'd personally have thought Genestealers or <substitute preferred Tyranid melee creature here> would be a better representation of Chryssalids :P

My personal area of experience with Warhammer includes no Tyrannids, so it was the best I could come up with :P.

They didn't ever bother to add them to Dawn of War.

They're all over Dawn of War 2 though, disappointing as the game was. I hadn't looked at reviews when I bought it on sale at Steam. I was expecting more army on army action, not tiny little squads.

So far, my Warhammer mappings would be:

Sectoids - generic xenos.
Snakemen - Genestealer hybrids
Floaters - combat servitors
Chryssalids - Genestealers

Sectoids aren't horrifying enough to be in the 40k universe.  I'd say the closest match would be the Tau, because they're physically unimposing and their leaders have implied mind control (it was added to make them more grimdark).  And cyberdiscs are sort of tank like?  Still a bad fit.
