That was bad, period. Frankly, I should have remembered that the smaller store wasn't clear before sending Bridger in. Also, it seems walls don't block sightlines as much as I thought they would, so no more sending rookies to pistol whip xenos into submission.

Anyway, Altasian and Aseaheru, you guys are in luck. The newest batch of volunteers include a Canadian and a Russian. Your soldiers will be unveiled in the next update.

EDIT: Altasian, could you use the following signup sheet to customise your character?

EDIT 2: EnigmaticHat, you'll be added to the active roster in the next update too.

Mission 4: Operation Crystal Dirge

Spoiler: Major Edit Note (click to show/hide)

Deathwatch Librarian Garroth's log, recording #002

It has been tough, adjusting to a different temporal position. Morale has been low ever since we arrived in this millenium, and is getting worse with every initiate who falls in battle. While I am trying my best to keep everyone true to the light of the Emperor, I am no Chaplain.

So... what unnamed do we have?

And may I ask that you get us more troops in a mission ASAP?

iirc we have 2 more unclaimed rookies/initiates, all ladies. I'm working on getting more volunteers (as usual).

As for getting squad size upgrades.. we'll have to see how the council rates our performance. Failing to safely extract Dr Marazuki cost us some 160+ credits, not including the cost of hiring more volunteers. And then it's likely to be 2 weeks or so after the credits come rolling in, so.. maybe in another 2 or 3 missions, we'll have that bigger squad..

EDIT: mission description already had exact credit reward >_>

Interlude:

1. So RL intrudes - I've been assigned a new project at uni which will keep me busy for the next couple of weeks or so, which means I may not update missions as frequently as I'd like to. Don't worry, I'm not killing off this LP yet - just don't expect a mission update a day :P

2. I've stumbled across the XCOM "init" file, and I was wondering - how would you guys feel if I changed the names of the weapons and ranks to match Warhammer 40k lore?

Wouldn't be the same without chainswords...

Actually, EU is quite possibly the least moddable game around. It cleans its files every time it starts to prevent cheating.

Well, all I'll be doing is changing the names, functionality remains the same. Pity about the chainswords though, unless you don't mind the blaster launcher being renamed to chainswords instead :P

Chainsword launcher? :P

I don't mind keeping the original names in game - after all, we can all call the rifle an autogun and the machine gun a bolter without caring much what X-Com wants to call them.
