Heres my list of critiques of how the game went, and its also for the players as well.
GM- The way you've done things is quite hostile towards the players, where even basic actions are getting ridiculously penalized for rolling a 1, 2, or 6. For all the magical stuff with power getting high rolls and control getting low ones, mostly understandable in the failure of Control rolls. But rolling a 6 for butchering shouldn't CRIPPLE the player by losing all their fingers.
Selina getting badly hurt from a 2(1?) when going down a ravine makes perfect sense on the opposite side of the spectrum however, and most of the mundane actions have made sense. Even the magic made some sense, but mostly it was just catastrophic. But realizing this now, we can probably restart this from the beginning IF we can address the player faults that occured.
Players- Seriously!? Almost everyone, myself included but only once, have been assuming you can use magic easily and freely. This is not the case and should have been seen from some of the earlier actions by players. Also, considering what this was based off of, and the fact that we could all be considered level 2-3 characters, Magic was going to be volatile a lot of the time. Free use of it was quite ridiculous on most peoples parts. That, and it really seemed like a lot of us weren't playing our characters to fit the setting, myself included in this.
I'm all for a restart if we can keep these things in mind and both A: Stop using magic so stinkin much, and B: not be as hostile in how the rolls go. Atleast to start.
Idea for a 6: The action goes through great, but with an added side affect that could be good or bad. (50/50) And this should not be crippling or a huge benefit to the player.
Can we all agree both sides were at fault here?
