Let(or hope) my fingers be reattached.

You were planning to have a 15 year old magical girl kill Witches by drinking them under the table!? It's original, at least.

((This is why the only time I used magic was to escape and then to attempt to free a couple soldiers. You guys are also attempting rather drastic magical attempts, whereas I was planning on starting small given the chance.))

Selina puts out the fire carefully, and goes to do a quick search around the area for her friend.

Quote from: Original Post
"Cursed" sorcerers gained their magic from some outside, typically malevolent source. Their magical elements tend towards the perverse and unnatural. They are sometimes called witches (if female) or wizards (if male). Their magic is stronger than natural magic, but is harder to control.
Quote from: Original Post
Each use of magic requires two rolls: A Power roll and a Control roll

Maybe this is just me, but the rule seems kind of obvious. It's not completely explicit, but it seems implied in the same way that "If the van's rockin', don't come a'knockin!'" means "Don't bother me, I'm having sex.".

The thing I should do?

And yeah, maybe. Magic is supposed to be a dangerous thing you use carefully, when it is needed, but...I might have overdone it.

((It also doesn't help that you tend to interpret rolls in a somewhat mean-spirited fashion.))

Try to climb out! And if that doesn't work, see if the cave leads anywhere. And if it's too dark to see, attempt plan C - oil stream powered flight right out of the cave!

((I always hated that rolling high in a lot of Roll to Dodges was bad, unless it was a game solely about PvE. 1-2 is bad. 3 is mediocre at best, but still pretty bad. 4-5 are good and great, with 6 being amazing! A 6 power and 0-2 power doing incredibly bad, okay thats fine. But getting a 6 for skinning a dead animal should be just that. You did incredibly well and got most or all of the meat and hide.))

How else am I supposed to interpret 1's and 0's?

6 is an overshot.

I was addressing Cado's claims that 6's were supposed to be good.

How else am I supposed to interpret 1's and 0's?

((As binary, duh. The LGD is sending you a message.

But anyway, here it seems like a 6 is basically you rolling a 5, then rolling a 1 that makes that 5 completely irrelevant, which makes a 6 just another form of 1 rather than a distinct result. And so, with results like that and the rules currently in place, the system is stacked against us to begin with, and the shit it throws at us is going to snowball until a point where everything's FUBAR, if it isn't already.

After all, in an RP, losing is only fun if it brings about an interesting story.))

6 is an overshot.

((It's only my opinion, of course, but I do believe that a 6 should give more than it takes away, otherwise the system becomes downright hostile to the player.))

I'm with the others around. Yes, it should have some negative side effects (destroying parts of the hide due to using too much strength?), but fucking up and cutting off your own fingers should be something for a 2 or 1, IMHO.

((Not to mention that who in their right mind would CUT off their own fingers without noticing until AFTER they were done butchering the hide. The worst it should have done is possibly break or dull the knife used. At worst maybe cut off a part of a finger, not the whole.))
