Well, there was a bridge that I carved to build the channel. I could just collapse the thing after I set the lava flowing. And I dont haul stone, I dont even have a stone stockpile. I let it lie where it is till I need it, my mechanics, masons, crafters and architects chew it up fast enough anyway.

Heh, love these rounded rooms! But what's up with rock lying everywhere? So messy... Would take years to haul it into stockpiles though.

Seriously, if my dwarves started hauling stone, they'd never stop. Better to leave it as is with no stockpiles so that they'll grab what's on hand.

Nice! The round rooms are pretty cool. I like the organic feel of the tunnels; I wish I had the patience with the designate tool to do that.

I'm with you on the no stockpiles for stones. If I need an area cleaned up, I just put a mason's shop there and set it to build rock blocks; creates some hauling work to do, but at least they fit in bins.

What do lava forges do exactly? Are they like a forge that requires no fuel?

Pretty much--you still need 1 charcoal or coke as part of the steelmaking process, which normally takes 2 fuel.

well thats just the way to make steel, heat alone won't do it. You need carbon.

The huge amount of statues around his fort keeps his dwarves happy. His workshops are probably made of a dwarf's favorite stone type, too.
