I kinda wish our gate and walls had held a tad longer. It's kinda what those defensive structures are for. I wonder if our side had any bonuses to attack and defense from being on the proper side/top of said structures? I know this question is a little late, but it's been niggling at the back of my - niggling? is that right? Is that even a thing?

Under normal circumstances there would've been.

I had entirely forgotten about high ground advantage.  :)

(I had considered the walls to be wooden walls good for stalling instead of guarding outright, since this was a fairly small village, so I didn't think that far.)

EDIT:
I can see that everyone submitted their turns. However, I has a sick. :( So this'll be delayed until my brain stops hurting.

EDIT2:
Not sick now.

More changes!
Since I have a map now I won't track unit status anymore.
This means battles (in the future) would be more skewed in favor of the players.

-Turn 3-

Resolutions
Martigan is attached to Martigan's Unit (Light Range).
Bobert is attached to Bobert's Unit (Light Melee).
Robert is attached to Robert's Unit (Heavy Melee).
Harold is attached Heavy Melee A.
Camille is attached to Camille's Rangers. (Light Range)

-MOAR FLUFF-

The map has labels now!

Map Key:
Rectangles are Light Melee.
Circles are Light Range.
Pentagons are Heavy Melee.
Triangles are Cavalry.

Friendly Morale: Even. (Facing professionals, Taking losses, but most of the scared guys are dead, so...)
Enemy Morale: Dropping. (Facing Ragtag bunch, Routed friends, Facing down an Avatar of the War God.)

Other:
It is now Afternoon.

Arbitrary headcount is maxed.
What should you do?

As the battle is winding down.
1. YOU represents the group. It could use a more definitive name.
2. YOU the group could use a definitive leader. (doesn't have to be a player character)
3. you can opt to play as your character or YOU as a whole. (not mutually exclusive)
3b. This means you can give orders to all player characters (however, the owner of that player still gets the final say on their orders)
4. If you travel away from YOU then you can only give orders to yourself (likewise you can't give orders to characters that are neither yours or with YOU).

Next turn deadline is...Sunday? I dunno.
I'll do it earlier if everybody turns their turn in earlier. No promises tho'.

I volunteer as leader.
I smite them with the might of my patron god Ares. (I call upon the Wrath of the Heavens.)

OC: I'm perfectly fine with that... as I thought we were in modern times to start with... :P

Bobert thinks we should fortify the alley we're in. It may be possible to force the enemy in single file.

>Bobert stays attached to his current group.
>Bobert orders the group to create a choke point by piling anything they can find onto the sides of the alley.
>Bobert also orders the men to keep anything they find that may be of some use and report to him what it is.

Bobby shall roll up the catapult to our guys, and fire on the enemies! Also scavenge anything good on the way.

"Do not worry, I shall save you guys!"

EDIT: We could also use a skills page or something.

I suggest either one of the characters with Leadership skill (Martigan, Harold, Bobby), OR a non-introduced character (Call him ... Murdoch). If Martigan gets the spot, I suggest a dual-lead role with Camille. At the moment, Harold is in the best leadership position (with the best stats, it appears), while Robert is in the best "almost famous last stands" position.

Camille heads back to attach herself to one of the remaining ranged groups. She then instructs them to fire arrows like crazy to cover Robert's attack/retreat.

Harold volunteers for leader
Because I do have the leadership stats, after all. Unless someone more qualified comes along, if vote for myself. With as little ego as possible.

Harold gives a rallying speech to the men!

Defensive posture! Hold the current position.
Wait for the reinforcements to help clean up the enemy.

If I'm chosen to lead:
1. YOU shall be changed to INSERT YOUR VOTE HERE until further notice (or voting)
2. Vote for Harold as leader.
3. I vote for Harold to give orders to INSERT VOTE HERE as a whole, but the players, of course, have the final say of what they want to do.

3b. And 4. Are arbitrary.

Skill page, he says. as if you'd get any sort of useful info from that.

For the record the team leader's leadership skill would only come into use if he leads a squad by himself.

Also there are no real stats in the game, because that would require effort (and a little too much housekeeping).

I nominate the team's kitten, Mr. McFluffles, as the leader of our group, "The Glorious Arm of Knitting." (Or the Ravens ... that works too. Also, The Black Legion is good, if you prefer a literary reference.) THe kitten is black with long whiskers. Beware his noxious catbreath!

Looking over the sheet, it's really tied between me and Martigan. We could co-lead, Martigan could lead, or I could lead our team. We're tied for leadership, but (s)he has higher Tactics and I have higher Combat.

Depending on how you play it (and how mean / lazy I get), but...

as a general rule of thumb:
Player based leaders should consider these things:
-How a leader presents him/herself is important to getting new contracts (dependent upon if the offerer in question values that kind of thing)
-How well a leader fights affect team morale (for the groups that value that kind of thing)
-How well a group looks (clean and tidy and full of POWER OVERWHELMING) affects the quality and quantity of recruits (may not entirely be a good thing)
Among other things that would be considered as the game goes on.

A fluffed leader (a puppet, almost) has none of these things to worry about (would be sending delegates to do hirings, etc)
-But puppet leaders can also have things happen via random luck.

So the end process is higher risk vs higher rewards with a player leader and a more stable group with a puppet leader.

As it stands now: While the group doesn't officially exist (it will once the battle ends) Martigan is the implicit leader by the sheer virtue of having money.

One final note.
