This pregame is weird. I didn't actually expect multiple characters when I posted my suggestion for our starting character. Oh well, I did my five actions. Feel free to continue Mad's training until game start.

I agree it's very, very odd.

But then my basis for the game is "I have a framework of things I think would happen, and then let's improv the rest."

Mad's training is considered to be "finished". Unless there's some RP shenaniganry it won't be addressed.

Robert talks to Bobert about Enchanting the Shiv!
Unfortunately Bobert doesn't know how to Enchant yet!
Roll: 19 Check: 50 + 40
Fail
Effect: 85
Unreasonably Faily Failure.

There would be some kind of failure here but nothing actually happened, so...
Robert has acquired a Slightly Disappointed Wooden Shiv!

Harold's combat skill has increased! Harold will have an additional attack roll for the next battle!

Camille tries to lift weights! But there are no weights around, so she makes do with substitutes.
Roll: 53. Check: 50
Pass
Effect: 92
Astounding Success.
Camille's strength training with the Barrels filled with an unknown yet extremely heavy substance has reaped its profits! Especially since she dropped it on herself for the purposes of toughening up.

Robert tries to hunt some woodland creatures!
But we're in a town, so he settles for some grassland creatures instead.

Bobert: "There are no research materials for Bobert to study. Then Bobert must find some! Maybe first though Bobert should see if he can figure out something from the book."

Bobert> Read through the book to find a spell that Bobert can interpret or read.

Pre-game is now over!

(No more actions will be accepted as I compile stuff and get the ball rolling)

Camille goes jogging for speed!
Roll: 46, Check: 50. Fail.
Effect: 93. Catastrophic Failure.
Camille's jogging attempt goes greatly awry as she runs herself straight into a nearby river and proceed to flail around.
Camille has learned Swimming and Hydrophobia!

Robert attempts to commit suicide!
Roll: 24, Check: 50. Fail.
Effect: 40. Moderate Failure.
Robert lightly chafes himself with his sandpaper.
Robert has learned Precision!

Harold attempts to cause growth via violence!
Roll: 42, Check: 50. Fail.
Effect: 6. Negligible Failure.
Harold stabs himself in the stomach with a sharp stick, but the stick was not very supple and it broke upon contact with his clothing.
Harold has learned Quality Assurance!

Bobert attempts to read and interpret a spellbook that has befuddled him so!
Roll: 70, Check: 50+ 40 - 20. (+40 for foreign material, -20 for focus on similarity in scripts).
Pass
Effect: 10. Negligible Success.
Bobert comes across a spell in a language he's able to roughly recite!
It had no effect.
Bobert has learned Literary Paranoia!

...

For the record, you probably won't see about 95% of the skills ever again.

ADDENDUM: I actually didn't see the TRAIN THEN MORE TRAIN message the first go-around. My bad~

While Robert won't actually be doing that, I'd like to inform you that he would've succeeded (with very little benefit, sadly).

-Turn 1-

TimeSKIP

The town YOU were in was a border town.
And Border Towns suffer from a lot of invasions. Sucks, I know.
Town is under attack!
A general call to arms was issued and everyone capable of fighting was drafted into the Levy!
Everyone else (the six of you) were identified as travellers and were considered Mercenaries!
Really bad mercenaries, but mercenaries nontheless.

Smaller TimeSKIP

The military count is as follows:
Friendly
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Enemy
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

RULES
-Pick a friendly group you're attached to!
-Submit a turn list of five actions! (You can be elaborate)
Default Actions: Attack Enemy (TGT:Nearest, Weakest, Strongest), Support Squadmates.
-Submit a Stance!
Default Stances: Aggressive (Bonus to attack rolls), Defensive (Bonus to defense rolls).
-Choose an equipment type! (Attack, Defense, Support)

Your characters will behave relatively normally (as in, attack order won't cause Leeroying) but otherwise will bow to your actions.
Characters without submitted actions will accompany a random squad with Support Squadmates for their orders.

-MOAR FLUFF-
Friendly unit placements:
On the Walls: Light Ranged groups A,B,C,D. Light Melee groups A,B.
Near the gate: Light Melee C,D,E. Heavy Melee A,B,C.

Enemy Placements:
Unknown.

Friendly Morale: Bad.
Enemy Morale: Unknown.

Other:
A friendly army is marching to the town. It will arrive in 3 turns.

The Nation of MostlyNotEngland and DefinitelyNotFrance are gearing up for war. Border towns of the two nations are recruiting infantry and levies to face the impending bloodshed.

Arbitrary headcount is maxed (still).
Turn will resolve Friday night or once every named Character submits their orders.

(In the future I might switch it to everyone can give orders to everyone, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there)

Mad attaches to light ranged group on the wall. Inspire the troops! Also, recruit redshirts! (I know, I know, everyone is already here. Well, begin subtle recruitment efforts for post battle purposes.

Edit: also, look around for the enemy.
