The problem with most athletes is that they're so common and general that have the players here would have a football ability or something. If there's something unique about an athlete, like they're particularly fast or can easily shoot 3-point baskets, then the player gets an ability.
I feel like if the dude was president for 3 days, he probably was killed by illness or assassination. I don't know if you'd wanna' get iced when the 3 day period is over.

Make them contacts, or have a subset of people be favorably disposed toward the player. The larger the group, the less intense the loyalty. Of course, being an archbishop or owning a battleship is definitely a better bonus than "is Facebook friends with a rather sizeable village in Kamchacta."
