Davidson was always a smart man, but these last few days he'd felt smarter. Chains of cause and effect swirled through his mindscape and what was once occluded in obscurity and vagueness now shined with perfect clarity. From the bar outside his house a raving mass of rage-filled men and women rough-housed, spilling out and smashing into the houses all around, including his own. What madness could have cause this? He tracked the flow of feet backwards to the epicentre: The Rusty Nail, a dim low-ceilinged bar of warm beer and cold reception.

The bar was empty of its raging patrons and Davidson scoured the room for something that could justify the mayhem. There's creaking from upstairs and suddenly the door to the back bursts open and three dogs (large, brown, of uncertain parentage) bound forth towards him. He has little time to figure out what's driven them mad like the others before they leap towards him...

[5]Barron teleports right back to his house.

Did I just do that? Could I do it again? The TV crackles on, news of spontaneous riots in Las Vegas. Las Vegas, lots of money in Las Vegas...

Baron stares at the TV, willing himself to be at the on Las Vegas Boulevard

Perhaps it only works when I'm in danger? Baron opens his first floor window and stares down at the driveway below. With a final gulp he leaps out of the window, fervently willing himself to be in Las Vegas

Davidson quickly makes the calculations, and ducks and doges at precisely the right angles, the dogs leaping past him and out the door of the bar. He quickly shuts the way, locking himself inside. In the quiet moment that follows, he catches his breath, and hears strange shuffling from the floor above.

Davidson fiddles for a moment with his body scanner but quickly realises that it won't be able to be converted into a laser. as he works, the sounds from above become louder and suddenly a suited barrel of a man clomps in. His eyes glow red and Davidson feels a rising anger inside of himself...

Rolling in pain on the tarmac, Baron fervently tries to will his bones to teleport back into their correct place.

"Hey guy I don't want any trouble."

[3]"You and me both Mister," says the guy, "but just lately everyone goes crazy around me. I— I can't seem to control it. I can see you're getting mad too..."

In desperation, the man runs out the back while Davidson seethes with an inexplicable rage. After a while his anger subsides and Davidson is alone in the trashed bar, the sound of sirens growing louder in the street beyond.

Baron goes to the hospital and fixes up his leg. His parents are confused as to why he jumped out the window but he doesn't tell him. When he's finally back on his feet (albeit in crutches) he concentrates on honing his teleportation, trying to move only short, safe distances
