I'm still going to buy Mirror's Edge 2 if it looks like it's as fun as the first one. I don't think I really even hate EA. At least not for this. They want to make money, and care more about milking consumers dry than delivering a quality product. That's not even especially evil by corporate standards. What has EA actually taken from people here? Seriously, it's just a game. >:]

If microtransactions don't bring EA any money because no one wants them, EA is going to crumble to the ground under the harsh realities of the free market economy. If they do bring EA money, well, hooray for EA. I guess they were right all along and this WAS the best way for them to make games. It's perhaps a bit sad to think that the best profits in video games are found in focusing on monetization schemes over gameplay, but if this is proven to be true in practice, I don't see the point in blaming the microtransaction developers. Is it the drug dealer's fault that drugs sell so well?

I still think this was just a big ploy by EA and GOG to get everyone to go buy the original Dungeon Keeper again. I'm pretty sure sales for Dungeon Keeper 1&2 are skyrocketing.

Butchering beloved franchises for massive publicity and nostalgia sales actually sounds pretty solid. EA's already hated, so it's not like the negative publicity is actually that bad, and this game probably cost $300 in peanuts to make, so yeah, pretty brilliant. I doubt they would ever actually think like that though, this is pretty clearly just a shallow cash in.

Honestly, I think it's good that this was made, if only for getting more people to try the original. Sucks that there are people dumb enough (or unaware of industry standards) to pay money into this, though.

Look here is kind of the thing:

Capitalism means that anyone can put out a terrible product and make a lot of money off it.

It DOESN'T mean that
A) It is justified (Since when does "It made money" justify anything)
B) You cannot complain

Given that the microtransaction market functions more like a vampire then someone genuinely interested in giving you a fun time...

Especially with a lot of long time gamers who are used to getting good quality and service.
