 I could handle Plants vs. Zombies 2 having a bunch of optional micros, with the core stuff not costing much more then the original game, but Dungeon Keeper? Why must you do this, EA, why?

I'm not sure who spends anything like $6,500 on a game. You hear about some kid in Korea who racks up a huge bill on his phone and the parents sue to get out of it. But that's some stupid kid who doesn't know jack shit about anything but zergs and build queues: someone 99% out of touch with the reality of money.

If only they told him it was like Vespene Gas, he'd understand.

Do you have any sources for that? I know a few politicians who are trying to tackle gambling addiction, and I don't think this has pinged on their radar yet, might be worth writing a letter.

Shit, there was a like an actually account of a person who went to a meeting with the people who make these kinds of game. It was posted here somewhere, but the average number was much less iirc. But the principle was the same, the "average joe spending 17 bucks didn't exist" concept. It was a really good little essay, I wish I could remember the name. But they do apparently hire fired/washed up psychologists to make these games.

Most reviews listed as "most helpful" are the very negative ones. Many positive reviews come from empty accounts. The ones that don't are, disturbing:

Amazingly polished! Fantastic work Mythic the game feels greatly polished! Only minor bugs so far plays really well on my Google Nexus 4. The game is very enjoyable and feels less taxing with the free to play model thus far, keeps the theme well for the franchise! May eat you're battery hard but on general smart phones.

Well, at least he's alive. Grammar, sad, but expected. Seems more concerned with bug-free status then anything else; that seems to be a recurring theme. As does memories:

At this point I should note most reviews are one line, such as "Wicked Heaps of fun!! ", "Good Owesome ", "Great game for skillful mindset Good ". Only the last one of those is identifiably human btw.

Looks just enough like Dungeon Keeper to be crushingly dissapointing. This really looks just enough like Dungeon Keeper to be crushingly disappointing when it shares no elements of gameplay beyond digging rooms. The gameplay is slow paced and tedious, making you wait for everything with the ever-present siren song of timely completion with the application of cash. The mechanics of this game bear little relation to actual Dungeon Keeper, more resembling browser game like Travian. Your dungeon is a lifeless thing, as none of your creatures move from their rooms for any reason, not needing to eat or sleep, nor desiring pay or entertainment. The only things that do any work are the Imps, who dig all the rooms and build all the traps. It scores two stars for being technically functional, but very disappointing

It looks just like farmville (a dull wait game). The only difference is it's based on an IP people like. Actually, I would have played Farmville if it were more like Harvest Moon, but it didn't advertise itself as that unlike this.

Ie, those who do pay, pay thousands each. Their entire system is build preying on those few people who get addicted and spend ludicrous amounts of money;

Sounds like a review I heard of Project Eternia, but without ever giving the vague stock-marketlike chance of you getting anything out of it but a void where your money was.
