Hey players! I wanted to let you know: My birthday is in 11 days. :) On the one hand, I'm psyched to be turning 18, on the other I'm super worried about starting college in the fall.

Don't worry the people who say "these are the best days of your life" have no life.  Personally, my life just sorta trundled along until I hit 30, then Kapow! Blasted into the stratosphere.

Happy soon-birthday, man.

Also: College is pretty much just highschool all over again for the most part, except some of the students have legal hangovers this time and the theater-arts crowd are the ones that usually throw the best parties.

@Timeless Bob: Yeah, I've always felt bad for the people who peaked in High School. As per college, I currently view it as an excuse to put of adult responsibility for four more years and have free room and board. Don't get me wrong, I'm going to work hard in college, probably harder than I do in High School, but still I don't see the point in it right now except not to waste scholarships and family support. Besides, it'll make my family happy. Haha, yea. My older brother's the one that really needs to go to college. He's the one who actually has a career plan. He just doesn't have the energy and savings fund to go. As per parties, I'm a bit scared to hang out with the theater-arts crowd because I know how the artsy people can be and in general I'm probably gonna ruin my college experience by working too hard and being tired all the time.

Also, what's so great about 30? I'm not being a jerk, even though I sound like it. I guess I just mean, what is there to look forward to?

Hey CaptainMcClellan,

it seems you did nicely during your turn ... considering how many attacks you had to face!

How many dwarfs survived? It would be cool if you could put up the save (maybe you did and I just didn't notice it!).

Anyhow turning 18 is great (here in Italy you can get a driving licence and this alone is great!), happy bday in advance!

Count on me to fill any gap between turns!

@SanGennaro: I know! Three sieges in a year!

Only like 12 dwarves maximum died. I want to say there's like 57 survivors.

I moved the link for the save to the first page and added the Overseer's list.

Yeah. Thanks a bunch. :) Technically, in my state I could already have been driving, I just kind of have a bad fear of it. I'm working on that though. And yea, 18's pretty great, but I don't like the idea of having to register to vote ( pointless ), register for the Selective Service ( terrifying ), or paying taxes. ( Or any of the other thousands of pieces of paperwork that face me soon. XD ) I am looking forward to college though, and while I'm scared by all the new responsibility, I'm excited by all the new potential.

Midlife crisis doesn't have to be all bad - I stopped taking myself and everyone else's expectations so seriously and had the resources to go out and really enjoy life before entropy finally catches up with me.  It's been almost ten years of pretty much every day being better than the one before and the possibilities for further awesomeness are still unfolding.

@TimelessBob: That sounds pretty great. Do you have any family though? Wife, kids, etc.

Apparently... All Dwarf Fortress players sleep or work for like 21 hours of the day. I realized how sad it is to be the only forum user on in this time block when this happened.

Am I the only High Schooler who actually plays Dwarf Fortress? Because based on the time tables of everyone missing and the little I know of you, I'd guess you're all engineers or engineering majors.
