Classes frustrated Erden. His fingers massaged his temples slowly as he tried to calm himself down. By Laschian standards, Erden was a bright individual. He had a decent curiosity that kept his will to learn at a healthy level. Even in his youth, he showed an aptitude for the stories and legends passed down on the mountain. In fact, it was a well regarded fact that if he were anyone else but the Son of the Mountain, this aptitude would have likely allowed him to become a Loremaster, a title held nearly as esteemed as those who were called "The Mountain".
However, his backwards nature of being raised out of the whole of society was beginning to show. Indeed, the first classes of his morning had not gone well. Advanced Mathematics and the studies of this "science" had absolutely confounded him as he sat dumbly in the classrooms, mutely listening as his peers threw about complicated terms that caused his head to ache. He had sat there during the class hearing what was being said but not comprehending. What use is the law of gravity? If something falls, it falls. Why bother to ask why or how? To further his frustrations, his teacher had stopped him after the class was over and issued a warning. Improve or else. Apparently the teacher had no time for failures.
So he arrived at the library. Kyle Johnson was manning the desk. While Kyle may have thought his disguise clever, it was painfully obvious who he was. But it was not his place. Besides Erden had better things to do, such as studying. However, just as he grabbed his book of the shelf, men in suits barged in through the door. These were not students, this much was apparent. They made beeline for a girl... Who she was Erden didn't know. He only recognized her with great effort as someone he had seen around the school. She seemed uncomfortable. Taking the Tome of Mathematical Theory off the shelf, Erden sat down at study table. Erden kept one eye on the proceedings as he half heartedly began to attempt to decipher the eldritch lessons of Grothendieck's Galois theory.
