Advanced Lawnmower Simulator was a game released for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum on 4/1/1988.  It was not commercially sold; it was distributed freely as a promotion with the "Your Sinclair" magazine as an April Fool's joke.  Let's go get that grass!

The Campari Grassmaster sounds like a good mower.

That one is broken too.  It looks like we have a shed full of broken lawnmowers.  The only one that actually works is the Patio Sprintette.  As you can see, the controls are simple.

It's such a lovely day to mow the lawn.  The sky is blue, the house is blue, the sun is blue.  The mower makes a humming sound.

Our efforts are well rewarded!  Advanced Lawnmower Simulator is that kind of game that comes along only once a generation, and would later go on to inspire the lawn mowing mini-game in No More Heroes.

No mods that I know of, but there have been various remakes and imitations over the years.  I haven't tried any of them though.

It's amazing how far they were able to push the graphical technology of the time.
