I don't think Jackson's speech style really matters.  Even if he were from a world with medieval tech, there's no reason he would talk like people from medieval times.  Heck, it would make equal sense if he talked like a hipster from the 2000s, and it wouldn't be entirely illogical.  A culture's spoken language has little to do with society's level of advancement, beyond the fact that a low-tech society probably has poor education, and therefore people with a poor mastery of their language.
