There was no mission objective we could really accomplish. I wanted to see if interacting with the mobs could be done helpfully. I doubt I really made much difference. But even if I had been massacring civilians (which is really what Kate came closest to doing), people would still rather go after the person with the fancy rifle than the guy in the MkIII with allies.
