So, the trial aside, I've been working with Piecewise on possibly offering the Doctor-like custom modifications (on a somewhat lesser level, of course - Maurice isn't the Doctor), and Piecewise asked, to quote:
I dunno, throwing randomness in there is a good idea but do you think anyone will want to put 8 or so tokens on something that might end up horribly disfiguring them? With eh Nyars boxes you might waste money but it won't just screw your character up without any chance to react. Why don't you go ask on OOC and see if there's interest in that sort of thing, as is.
So, here I am, asking if you'd be interested in paying tokens to be horribly disfigured in an interesting and possibly very useful way.
Specifically:
You come and pay for a modification, maybe even provide the general idea of what you'd want (don't have to, but it's a good idea). I cook up an interesting way for that to be done, and send it to Piecewise. Piecewise rolls for how well the operation succeeded, and whether or not Maurice got distracted/carried away, resulting in a different modification (the theme still remains, but details and specifics may vary greatly - think May's transformation). In the end we have randomized custom robobodies/genemodifications that might horribly disfigure you, but can potentially be worth twice the tokens paid (yes, I'd be roughly comparing the project price equivalent in standard Armory items with about ~2x the price of investment, where applicable).
Speaking of the price, I'm thinking of offering two options: 4-token for more basic modifications, and 8-token for more advanced ones, slightly more likely to fail, but with greater potential and scope.
So, in short, good ol' Doctor-roulette, somewhat downgraded, and with "Terrible price!.." replaced with straight tokens, no strings attached. Would that be of interest to anyone?
(Hypothetically speaking.)
