That's just the start though.

I don't know, maybe that's a bit off: granted, there are plenty of dead, but also several active veterans and more than a few retired characters.

In general I think people tend to end up looking more like Johnny, if not even worse... It's a good thing that there are full-body prosthetics.

Ok...no post tomorrow because I'll be in a car for 7 hours....Hopefully not in the trunk this time.


As penance for my lack of action, I'll tell you about the game I'm messing with. I call it DOOM LAB. It's my attempt to make what I envisioned for Heph but make it fun for everyone, myself included.

The idea is basically an Xcom/ Heph/ Mystery sort of deal where you have this big lab with set stuff and systems and you're tasked to investigating weird things. Basically, big metal containers containing lots of stuff are brought in and you have to figure out not only what the hell the weird item/items are, what their properties are, etc, but you also have to try to piece together what happened around them using only clues given to you in the box.

The Xcom aspect comes from the fact that, despite there only being 6 players, there are lots of people working at the lab. Basically, 3 players control lead scientists, one controls security, one controls systems and maintenance and the last is the controller of all the human test subjects (at least those not controlled by people on the wait list). Each player (or group of players in scientists' case) have a bunch of npcs under their command and they have to choose where to set them up. Ie, where are we gonna put security, who is gonna be watching the systems read out, who is gonna be down in the Level 4 biohazard lab, etc.

And of course, all testing has to be carried out in character as though you were physically doing it. Ie, if you want to shoot something with a gun, you gotta ask security to bring you a gun from the armory and walk into the test chamber and shoot it. And thats your action for the turn.

This is to prevent Syvaris syndrome.

I've died around 4 times on the same character and judging from piecewise's general reaction to them/me I gather I either somewhat amuse him or am at least considered an okay guy by his standards.

Syvarris had the tinker thread title changed to reference his death warrant for months and was probably the primary driving force behind changing the way tinker was done ... twice. I can virtually guarantee the primary reason he's survived this long is that he's avoided actually rolling for a span of years. If he went into a dice situation ... *splatter*
