Lyra wants to spend some time in the VR to deal with a self-esteem issue caused by her performance vs the AoP. I angle to go on-ship unless the playercount for the mission is less than suggested (which would be very unusual considering the most recent missions have been highly overpopulated)
I think Lyra may just have an inferiority complex.

If she does go, I think she'd be a good addition to the team. I suspect that there will be need of qualified Exo specialists who don't give off a lot of heat, to handle whatever the thermophage converted itself into.

Also, I guess Anton is going to have make a briefing. Wonderful. He's so good at working with people. :P

more a matter of she apparently overestimated herself (it's not like life is governed by 6-sided dice and she rolled snake eyes. that'd be crazy!). and she failed to accomplish a damned thing. also, that AoP's automanips were totally cheating. Why can't we get !NOPE! @ spacemagic automanips??

You can. They're just 7 tokens apiece for each kind of influence. I presume the most common ones are well-foreseen by the Arbiter amp insurance plan.

Wonder if AoPs are gravity-protected, by the way, since one of the selling points of that is that nobody bothers to protect themselves against gravity.

what?

That... That's actually something that I had this long drawn out conversation in Tinker with PW about... and there were preexisting automanips for it?!?

There are, but it was my understanding that they are like the kinetic shunt - limited charges, and only one type of influence per device. And all automanips that don't need brainpower or exotic matter to run are effin huge.

Hmm. I guess further questions will have to wait until I know how many big arms I have so I can price out the cost of getting something like 12 kinamps.
Pimp cane seems like a perfect purchase for me right now though.
Don't you have 0 unconventional? That doesn't sound like a very good idea.
Unless you mean force infuser. For the force infuser, if they only use Exo to shoot things, then they'll be fine. If they use dex...
Same thing for the pimp cane. Although for the pimp cane, you could get away with it if you word your actions right. Instead of making a blade and swinging it, make a floating arrow and cause it to fly into your enemy's brain. Generally just use your mind instead of your hands.

Problems of a minmaxer...

Weren't you discussing ways to detect space magic, not ways to protect against it?
Oh, and I suggest posting an action on ship to wake up and inspect yourself (or something like that), just in case piecewise doesn't do Mission 22 actions soon.

Oh I've considered how to most effectively use the pimp cane for my stat build, I should be fine with it. After this mission I'll be halfway to +4 Mind after all - then I can begin planning in earnest!

But see, I don't know if the force infusers can be used to punch things really really hard, or what applicability in melee combat they could have. They seem more suited for moving heavy things.

The way I understand it, they can be used for defence (raise your hand and effortlessly catch a battlesuit's fist) or for launching things (immediately redirect said battlesuit's fist back at its 'face' while saying "stop hitting yourself". Or better yet, launch the entire battlesuit at its friends). If you have some fighting style where you use your palm for everything (slap-fighting? kamehameha?), I guess you could use it as a melee weapon. But why do that when you can charge the thing up and then launch beads at people at hypersonic speeds? Or maybe buy special gauss rounds and shoot them at people with your mind (shouting "Bang!" while doing so optional).

Force infusers are to kinetic amps what rockets are to explosives. You can use one to /launch/ a thing really hard, and the other to /hit/ a thing really hard. So the only use in melee combat is to toss enemies into things, or things into enemies. Plus you need to charge a force infuser by letting it absorb kinetic energy first.

Hmm. They'd still be useful, I think. Just gonna have to wait to see how that mass discount goes then.

And as for charging I figure if I can go up to a punching bag and continually whale on it with all my arms (ORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORA) for around a mission or so that should charge them up fairly well.

EDIT: This is extremely funny in hindsight, especially given how it ended up saving me from my own minmax-induced stupidity.

Well yeah, I'm not planning on killing anyone.
Yeah, he's just gonna graft them into himself to make Franken-Xan.

Just duct tape it on your foot. Or better yet, duct tape it on a battlesuit's foot, if the infuser can take the strain.
EDIT: Oh, wait, you're a big guy girl with giant arms and no legs. So you can request a larger glove to put in your larger arms that gets charged as you walk.

Simple: put your force infuser on a concrete slab, set it to "catch", then punch it with a kinamp a few times.

Then grab a handful of sand and throw it right through a synthbody.

For mind controlling things, specifically subduing someone/thing and getting them to lie still until restraints are put on them, likely against their will, which would be better, the neuroconnector amp or the more expensive one?

The cheaper one is better for reading.  The bigger one is better for controlling.

Lars has the cheaper one.

EDIT:  He had the bigger one prior to the respec, though, and used it in M13.

Mission 24, when someone finally reads the entry for 'kinetic shunt.'  Just remember, it takes batteries, so it will cost to use them.
