I believe the 'pilot' was simply in the same compartment as the rest of us and elected to take over from autopilot.
At least, I think so... it's been a while since I read the relevant turn(s).

But wait, then how did the pilots get in there after the shuttles were already flying?
Or were they just retconned in?

The pilots got in while on the Sword. Who exactly it was that got in was decided later, to save some rl time.

The confusing part for me actually came from the Sharkmist mission, which is one of the only other times that a player has flown the shuttle.

There is an emergency cockpit in the passenger area (it was used in the sharkmist mission). It's designed to override the auto-pilot, so I don't even know if it would work when there is an actual pilot in the main cockpit. *I* had wrongly remembered that it was a normal cockpit access.


I'm trying to decide if I have any capacity to help you guys remotely. I'm thinking no at the moment, with my shuttle being 2 or 3 turns ahead from yours. So if you haven't started a controlled ascent in a few turns, I can probably help somehow

Hey tryar, I heard you're working on an apc design? I had a fes ideas for a utility vehicle as well, was gonna work on that when I had the time, but maybe we can just pool our forces and get more done? Or you can have the project for yourself, I have plenty other stuff to work on.

I can't figure it out. The wiki mentions minuses as penalties for taking pluses, but the Character Calculator doesn't allow negatives.
