I think the prototypes should be distributed, for free, permanatly, to new players. one apiece.
said new player doesn't get to actually pick their prototype, but it will be something they actually can use / have skill points for.
however, the person distributing them needs to have a sense of humor and rough balance / imbalance with no issues about not being perfectly fair about it.

specifically: I want Nyars to be the god of prototypes.

Wait, pw, are you really sure you want people to be able to bring over gear to new characters? No offense, but that doesn't sound like a good idea to me. If nothing else, it even further lessens the impact a death has. And I can already see people demand their stuff back that was looted from their previous char's corpse on the mission.

I haven't been watching to hard. What's all this about friendly decapitation and protests against them? I support them wholeheartedly, but I want to know how this all started.

Elias was worried that the planet would try to attack the shuttle, so they needed to get off the planet ASAP. To save time, rather than carrying the entire bodies of anyone who can't walk to the shuttle, he'd grab their heads and any gear he could get easily and stuff it into a trash bag. Hasala was annoyed by this, and told him not to, so they began to argue. Lyra was also annoyed, so she threatened to murder him.

I think letting people nab their old character's stuff seems like a pretty terrible idea...
Perhaps a character could make a 'last will and testament' kind of thing, but I don't think they should be able to give gear to the same player's next incarnation.

I don't care since it's only gear you leave on the ship that does that. Everything else is dead when you are.

annoyed, at least in Lyra's case, is a very mild term. incensed is a more accurate, still very mild, way of phrasing it.

Do you think PW is on to me? I think hes on to me.

And i thoroughly reject the idea of prototypes being given to newbies fo free, what have they ever done to deserve the giant pseudo-magical death cannon? You know their just gonna waste its potential and drop it on their foot and kill everyone but the target they intended.

Its my job to "accidentally" kill and loot the newbies, not the other way around.

Clearly running multiple missions at the same time is a terrible idea.  The epic battle to see which team can cock it up worse has escalated again.

And Larry kinda gets blueballed in all this; just left with a raging bone spear and no where to put it.

Also, Gus (my new stupid character) was potentially going to shoot one of them if they started fighting.

Agreed. Being able to keep gear encourages people to play the same build as last time, which is boring.

Agreed as well.  I'd rather Lars's gear - even battlesuit - go to the team fund on his untimely demise (assuming it survives when he doesn't.)  Except for the neat but low-value trinkets, which would go to Maurice, whom he is good buddies with.

Speaking of Lars dying, this is the last chance to try to mindread the alien planet-fungus!

Also, it's exploitable. What's to stop people from making disposable characters, whose only actions are to buy returnable goods, drop them off at their place, and commit suicide?

Wrath of GM.  Someone trying that would roll out of stasis facing a guy with a bat breaking their kneecaps.

@Inheritance question:
'Last will and testament' all the way, I say. And no keeping equipment between characters unless you find a way to do so strictly IC.
(Yay for "sword in stone" type of succession! :P)
