Since he doesn't have that knowledge IC, I'd say trying is the right (and fun, but that has nothing to do with my suggestion[/lie]) to do.

Although that info is interesting and supports an earlier hypothesis. Synthflesh has a natural state of rage against all life and the avatar's pilot is there to shape that intelligence into something more useful to his purpose while the neural inhibitors help protect the pilot from the avatar doing the same to him, but in doing so they also weaken the help he gains from the avatar. Once the pilot is gone, the synthflesh returns to its original state.

It also means that mind control amps only need something with a mind, even if that mind is not physical. Except if that's only because it is similar to that "thing" that human minds are similar, the thing that allows them to use space magic.

And I just realised that we have no  scientific name for space magic. Someone should ask the doctor.
