Why don't you give the permanent painkiller to the people on Heph?  We might be able to reverse engineer it and mass produce it for everyone.

@Syvarris: I think you have already "converted" the workers. Charles and Steve and the rest have already spoken to them. We've spent a year on planet and they've been helping us during all that time.

Unless you brainwash them or implant them all with tracking/control equipment and shock implants so that Ares can monitor them, I don't think you're going get much safer than the current situation. The most you can get is probably just a temporary boost in loyalty and efficiency, much like those propaganda videos they make during wartime.

And really, while I like to draw parallels between your situation and a strategy game, I believe Charles is not a monk.

Unless you meant something else by convert. But the way you said it I imagined an enemy unit switching colour in a strategy game. And the indents aren't enemy units.

Does the ARM even have ideals, other than "we're going to be better than the UWM"? I don't think our propaganda officers or generals or Steve has said anything about that.

I disagree, Charles is the closest thing we have to a monk.  And considering he should be able to pre-record speechs until he gets a five, he's a very effective monk too.

I've been assuming they're working for us for the obvious reason of 'there's a carpload of soldiers here, and a massive warship, and they just murdered the entire garrison plus special forces in a matter of hours.  Let's not revolt.'.  Now that the sword is gone, they might start to grumble a bit more- especially considering that we don't currently have the facilities to fulfill their contracts- or even any reason to, aside from being nice.  Even if they are perfectly willing to work and everything, a few propaganda speeches can't hurt, and they might convert any UE which may or may not actually be lurking around.

As far as ideals, you don't need actual ideals to convert people to your ideals.  Just words that sound really good.  And shock implants are a good idea, yeah.  Pyro suggested full nerve staples, but then again he suggested full cannons, so I'm not certain whether that was serious.

Because I've had that pill since Nyars became a thing and literally no one cared about it until Kedly asked about it. If you wanted something done with it before, you should've asked. Now, if he wants to donate it or sell it to Hephaestus or use it, that's up to him.

Theres a condition where you can still feel pain but you arent bothered by it at all, painkiller might do something similar.
Of course if thats not the case and it does kill all your pain receptors, you wont know when you need to pee and that could be embarrasing.

You've got some weird anatomy going on if you're using pain to know when you need to pee, man. I would think mechanoreceptors (Lamellar corpuscles, I think, are the ones involved in sensing pressure - which, I think, is probably the first sensation involved) would trigger before nociceptors.

Say, Pyro, did you ask for that information, or did pw propose it? And if first, why did you want it? Not like you gonna be able to use it for a long time. Or just to rub it in our noses 

PW proposed paying me in information - thing is, with current rank and station, I have access to pretty much anything I want to know and probably more (It might sound a bit facetious, but I think that, if Simus wished, she could probably get Steve to tell her the same things he's telling Miyamoto. She may not be a General, but she is in control of what is pretty much the revolution's only source of supplies). I don't think he'll know if he's overshooting or not, so you may want someone with high willpower to review his speeches to make sure he doesn't start mentioning The Sheep, or the entities that control people using strings of bold text. Or you know, get someone to grab him a decomp since he's too worried about his own insanity to do it himself.

IIRC, PW mentioned how long/tedious doing levelups was, and Pyro (among others) offered to do it for him, as well as clean up his notes. I can't remember the specifics, and there's no record because the conversation occurred on the plug.dj (there's probably no one there at the moment; give it 12-15 hours or so).

This was a few weeks ago, now. Pyro still hasn't finished, as far as I know, and Piecewise has been using the wiki and the outdated Idiots in Space file since.


Oh, and there's been another ER Talk or two. As always, very long, don't sit down to listen to it in one piece unless you've got at least an hour or two of free time. Featuring Halfwise, PW's sister who knows less than we do about ER (and who answers ~95% of the questions) and a cameo of "Janet", PW's girlfriend. And karaoke.


Remember that Twine-based game PW was doing? It's basically a little history tour of ER-world Earth. It's background fluff, nothing important to any events going on in the game. It's pretty cool to look through, though. Too short, though.
