I think it's less the picture, and more what Stacy experienced that got him to paint the picture. Second-hand experience via the picture may not be as damaging - after all, your damage wasn't so severe the AM had to perform remote brain surgery on you.

If it's the picture, and I agree with Sean that the direct contact seems the more likely culprit, then Gorat would be out as well. Of course, he wouldn't want such a merger in the first place, and the ghosts would be trouble there as well, I imagine. I think that's all of us who saw the picture. First Stacy showed it to Maurice and got his throat slit, then Gorat glanced at the picture and got suicidal, then Stacy digitized the painting and showed that to Jim, and finally during the Halloween event, Gorat destroyed the painting. Or was Jim after the Halloween event?

The physical picture may be destroyed, but it probably still exists in digital form somewhere (mainly protected by no one knowing it was ever digitalised in the first place), unless Steve/AM/Doctor took the liberty of finding it and erasing the file.
That said, even then, it should still exist somewhere in the back of mind anyone who's seen it, and I'm more than ever interested in remembering it and, if needed, recreating the painting for Science. Provided I survive the current mission and what immediately follows...

The AM definitely knew that Stacy wanted to digitalize the painting, and Steve would also have known by virtue of being Steve. I would hope that one of them deleted any existing copies when Stacy was mindwiped, or when he died at the latest.

I'm almost scared to ask what it depicted.

Although I was wondering something a moment ago when I was thinking about another game where at least on main character was dead at some point. Are people who were temp dead infertile?
