@Sean Mirrsen On topic of the FEL weaponry: Could the Uncon roll be removed (with a little bit of of engineering, if needed; possibly remaining as an option)? Generally speaking, mixing up different kinds of rolls is not a good idea, as few dedicated Con-specialists would also spend skill points on Uncon, and it actually goes against the very basic idea of separation of death-tube-wielders from non-death-tube-wielders implied with the Con/Uncon differentiation.
(and yes, I understand that you don't propose rolling Uncon to shoot it in the default mode, but even special modes should not have it unavoidably: think of what it would be if, say, overcharging a gauss rifle or increasing intensity/diffusion on laser rifle required, say, Aux rolls - no, they don't, and those idiot-proof knobs and buttons were made with the specific aim of being used by a total idiot who at least knows how to point his deathtube the right way; the same design philosophy we should adhere here as well IMHO)

Ah, no, the roll shouldn't be required. I wrote that the charged shots should require a turn's delay, because that's exactly what you're doing - you're charging up the weapon, spending time to let it build up power. The idea with the Uncon roll is if you want to shoot on the same turn as you declare the action. Technically, with the turns each lasting 6 to 8 seconds (in combat), a FEL should have enough time to reach full power.

The problem is that it can't be kept at full power for long, as it's not charging up a capacitor, it's almost literally pumping heat into a sealed boiler. Don't let the pressure out quickly enough and the whole thing will blow, or, at the most optimistic, safely discharge and you lose the built-up power. What the Uncon roll signifies, is the character accurately judging the timing required to charge the laser, and immediately fire it, without keeping it on the closed cycle any longer than needed.

Either you prep it like a dynamic bonus for damage, or you roll Uncon and try to shoot it in one go.

"Lux Iridis" sounds like a system name, not a weapon name. "Lux" is too short. Generally I'd like to try and name it with something either relating to Russia/USSR (as per the character's theme) or something out of history or mythology (as per the general theme with the names here).

I'm trying to think of names, but all I have in my mind is rainbows, and I'd have to actually be on speed to propose to name it after a certain speedy pony.

"Aurora" is a name I was also thinking about, because auroras are colorful if not quite rainbow-y, and there's the whole "Cruiser Avrora" thing with its shot starting a revolution and all. It's still not quite a name I'd give to a weapon. A ship, but not a gun.

"Bifrost" is kinda cool, a rainbow bridge connecting worlds (and its depiction as a gun of massive destructive power in Avengers certainly helps), but it's probably a bit pretentious.

So far, "Spectrum"/"Spektr" is the most fitting name I can think of. Of course, there are two weapons, so I'd have to differentiate them somehow. I'd name the rifle-sized version "Spectrum"... and I suppose I could name the bigger version "Amiga" or "Commodore", but I doubt a lot of people would see the connection.

I see where you are coming from but rolling uncon just to get the timing right doesnt really work inmy mind.

Seems like it would still be con or dex based, delay firing death tubes are still death tubes.
