"Alright, mission 15 survivors... mission 13 doesn't actually need support, but this sort of thing just feels expected of us now. Soooo, get in this shel... transport, and just stay in there for a bit. You'll be at mission 13 very, very soon."

Is Lars taking some creative liberties with the proposed plan? As far as the part for subduing the second guard goes, that is. I just hope the guards don't get to fire their weapons or all hell breaks loose. Everyone'll be alerted to the kind of crap happening and from then on things will only go downhill.

A bit; he's not the most brilliant fellow.  But heck, if GuardB walks in a room and thinks he sees GuardA sleeping, then he ought to be plenty distracted.  I rather doubt all that will go in one turn anyway; any followup plan will be adjusted to circumstances.

In the end, whether things work out or not will depend on only a few rolls; as long as Lars manages to use his amp to get the guards completely distracted/off-guard, tranquilizing them may not even require a roll. And if GuardB sees GuardA "sleeping", I think he'll immediately assume we're assassins/something like that and either try to kill Lars and Co asap or warn his employer.

It's possible, yes; the thought behind making him look all neat is to make it look like an intentional act on the part of GuardA.  It'd take quite some thinking to make him spin around to Lars just as he sees him lying there all comfortable.    We'll see.

Yeah, if that happens as planned then the time it takes for Mr.NotSod to notice what exactly is happening may be enough. In the end we can only hope things won't go wrong anyway and adapt to the situation.

It does rely on Lars being a quick draw, which he thankfully is.

...Y'know, I was completely unaware we had any transport ships at all.  Could you please either edit the Heph page to list the ships we do have, or at least tell me so that I can do it?
The Merchant is the only ship I am sure of. I think at least some of the commandeered ships left over from the fleet battle are in good condition, but we've yet to so much as perform an orbital survey of the stuff we have to sort out up there.

The Merchant itself is the last of the ships we pulled out from the nuked shipyard - it's a great big cargo carrier, described thusly:
Quote
What looks like a transport ship, though missing the long string of metal cargo containers it would normally be carrying. It's got docking points for an absurd number of disposable solid fuel rockets; in case it needs to get off a planet's surface. But the main thrust comes from 4 very large engines set around the edge of a dome or inflated saucer like body.

Now that I look back at it, I never actually checked if it was FTL-capable. The description doesn't seem to imply it.

The PSAR isn't anything.  It's the name Sean came up with for the SS Testament LSW.  Presumably, it stands for "Piezoelectric Shard Assault Rifle", which is technically incorrect- the Testament is intended to be an LSW. [/gunnut]

Well, at least you were able to correctly decipher the acronym I came up with on the spot. (I honestly forgot what you called the weapon. >_>)

Although, to be honest I dislike the idea of the MACS, if I remember it correctly.  The idea of buying a basic suit, and then having to buy addons for it, seems horrifically inefficient in terms of token cost- which will exist, due to how the game works.  Whenever you have to buy stuff in parts, it gets more expensive; I prefer a single suit, which is just very flexible in it's role.

You're correctly remembering the idea of the MCS, the predecessor to MACS. I noticed the same thing about cost, so I want to try something different with MACS - the mission packs are not purchased piecemeal (unless you want to), instead you purchase a "refit license", allowing you to kit your suit out with any given mission pack combo before the mission. You still have to purchase any non-integrated weapons normally, but this way allows you to treat the suit's addons as an extension of the mission fund, without actually affecting the mission fund. The token costs are not all about the material costs involved, especially if you look at things like the Battlesuit that have way more gear and armor than you can purchase separately for the cost. The MACS is intended to make use of the same idea, but instead of giving you a whole bunch of stuff cheaper than you'd have it normally, instead you're given a great big collection of stuff that you're only wearing one given set of at any given time anyhow.

Just to note, I fully expect Steve's reaction to knowing Stacy and Xan nearly destroyed the planet to be some variation of 'of fucking course it was those two'.

For some reason I pictured McGonagall there. It still worked though.

So, I was thinking of something. Is it viable to make the lower bodies of robot bodies into tank tread based locomotion?

Also, does the ship have a psychiatrist or a therapist or something? Because you would think that a ship full of criminals would have one on the off chance one gets released they'll be productive members of society.

The HMRC's whole point was to kill incompetent inmates and assimilate the competent ones. Why waste time on therapy?

Why give them things to entertain themselves?

To avoid them going all murdery unnecessarily.

Keeping the cannon fodder occupied between missions =/= giving them therapy.

It still fulfills the same purpose. I mean cannon fodder that wants to murder you is still someone/something that want's your head on a pike.
