Found it. I kinda doubt the methadology is terribly interesting, as I am not a real scientist and Saint's even worse in many ways, but here you go.
(Please read my actual Heph post first. It's about what should be done with Heph, and I want it to be answered far more than this PM.)
Only run these actions if I'm allowed to retroactively do research, or if the thermophage disaster wouldn't prevent me from doing research. If I can't do this stuff, Saint just makes sure he's safe.
Also, yes, this stuff is Saint analyzing gamey aspects of the game from an in-universe perspective. Please, at least say "You can't find any explanation for why this is" rather than "This is just because we're playing a game. There's no in-universe explanation."
So, a lot of ARM operatives on the Sword have shown exceptional abilities, despite (supposedly) coming from a backround which would not have given them any such skills. Miya, an excellent tactician, Milno, an extremely skilled and canny soldier, the various tinkerers who've been able to improve on UWM tech without having a backround in R&D. I want to examine why this is.
(all of these are mutually exclusive searches. None rely on the others.)
1.Firstly, investigate how true people's backround memories are; there's a lot of data available. Look for people's faces and names on their home planets, try logging into old accounts Saint would have had, examine judicial records, etc. Can I find any evidence that anyone is who they think they are?
2.Investigate disappearances, murders, kidknappings, etc, of famous skilled people. Military tacticians, war heros, inventors who may have been pushing their limits. Can I possibly find any connection between some of these people and any ARM operatives? Basically, might Steve have kidknapped the UWM's most useful people and brainwashed them?
3.Finally, I want to research the long-term effects of stasis catatonia. I know it makes people go insane and fabricate memories, but does it ever have more unusual effects? People coming out of stasis knowing things they shouldn't? Possessing skills or abilities they shouldn't? If so, is there any cutoff time where this frequently happens?
4.Regardless of the previous answers, I want to research the construction of stasis machines. Preferably, the specific ones on the sword. I want to figure out what part of stasis preservation ends up driving people insane--and then I want to design a stasis tank which enhances that effect as much as possible. Crazy tubes which make stasis catatonia/insanity much more prevalent. Try and calculate how effective they should be, if such a thing is even possible.
5.Remember those kids Nik bred from Heph workers? The ones which would be our next science team? He left them in my care, and let me design the facilities they'd be raised in. Firstly, I want them split into four groups, and have four identical facilities for these groups. This is so we can raise them with different parenting styles. Secondly, I want stasis tanks, of both my modified version and a version identical to those on the sword, built somewhere far away on Hephaestus. After the kids are relatively old (twelve-ish?), I'm going to stuff 10% of them in stasis tanks. For science.
That is all. Thank you.
No, this PM was never answered, sadly. It was the last action I made before Heph's thread was completely shut down, which is why Saint said his research was interrupted by Origin's corruption--it literally was.
...Also, Saint wouldn't share exactly what his research entailed, for the obvious reason that it potentially included mass child murder. He doesn't care
much about what random troopers think of him, but that just means he cares a little. Who knows, someday one of them might decide to assassinate him.
PREPOSTEDIT:
Nia is Ao's traitor character, right? Saint isn't aware of him, no. He could learn of Nia pretty easily, but he only reads the mission reports after missions are concluded (Partially because that's my plan with M27). If Nia starts displaying symptoms of SD, that
would throw a spanner in all Saint's ideas, at least if Nia doesn't spend time in stasis first.
