I disagree. This is right after his trial, during which he repeatedly professed that hes taking responsibiliy for letting the lurker loose, and his sentence was being stripped of his station and no more access to xenofuckery. A slap on the wrist at most.

So what does he do? Immediatly ignore the sentence. Claim leadership of heph due to some hidden closed room vote, thereby upsetting the balance of power and the chain of command during a time where we really can't screw around and probably also inciting unrest amongst the ranks. On top of that he also pulls out some unresearched xenofuckery to threaten with. His little show of putting it at his feet is touching, but why pull it out if you don't actually want to threaten with it. Also remember that this is the thing that with a single bad roll instagibbed a player, produced several wildly powerful artifacts and an eldritch abomination. We also only see the burlap sack, so we're not 100% sure its even in there.

I think my action of simply asking what the fuck he thinks he's doing isn't all that extreme.

Unless the rebels are fortunate enough to find themselves in an anomalous area, hidden from Steve's ken and with enough medical supplies and training to remove their implants, I suppose.

But yes, asking "The fuck you doing" isn't too extreme, and as for pan being xeno bad, I had to make some assumptions there, excuse me on that.

Balancing IC with OOC when it comes to fun can be hard sometimes. I think the current power structure is fine OOC (probably IC too since Vincent is a cautious type) but I totally want to see a civil war now as that would be fun AND interesting

IC Lars would be quite confused and torn; he respects the generals as chosen by Steve, but Maurice is his closest friend and Lars wouldn't know on some of the details they've brought up.  Also, he doesn't know what a Timmy Sphere is; I can't even remember if he met Timmy; I think so, briefly?

IC: Petra doesn't know Maurice, she doesn't even know that he was at least partially the cause of the universe going down the drain, she doesn't know the trial is happening. So no opinion.

OOC: Kind of wondering why he didn't just take getting off relatively easy, then realized it's probably in character, and then grabbed the metaphorical popcorn.

Is having two competing entities with supreme power really better than just one entity with supreme power?  Sure, there's the argument that in their conflict they'll likely be nicer to people in order to gain support, but their conflict is also likely to harm everyone because it's conflict.

OOC, I think having a supreme admin position on Heph is a nice idea, but the way Maurice just tried to get it was massively dickish and completely idiotic.  Essentially, he just made as many powerful people as he could angry at him, and then deliberately spited them when they decided on a punishment.  Worse, his only argument for why he can do this is a contract made--and annulled--decades earlier by someone else.  If he were intelligent he would have tried to get the position before his trial, used it to either rig the trial or force it to be fair, and then not have openly been honest about attempting to fight an alien god.

Also, even if Steve wanted to reinstate the supreme admin position, which he has no reason to do, why would he possibly choose Maurice?  Maurice has no support from anyone of any consequence, and just got finished with a trial where Steve's two highest ranking and most respected underlings found him unworthy of less power.
