PLOT:
You are an HONORABLE SAMURAI (or maybe a medieval knight or a wild west gunslinger or a Jedi or a Space Marine or who cares) and you and your                   HONORABLE FRIENDS came to whatever place this happens to be in order to murder each other in an HONORABLE WAY. Unfortunately for you, some rather    DISHONORABLE folks might have snuck in and are liable to kill you DISHONORABLY. How rude.

SETUP PHASE:
First the GM rolls 1d[numberOfPlayers*2] for each player. if the result is 1, that player is a DASTARDLY NINJA. if he result is 2, that player is a FORMIDABLE RONIN. on any other roll that player is an HONORABLE SAMURAI.
The GM should then secretly inform any Ninja of their role and reveal any Ronin to all players. other roles are kept secret.
Each player is given one change of plans token.

PLANNING PHASE:
During this phase players may communicate with each other, publicly or secretly, as well as flagrantly lie to each other.
During this phase all players except ninja must make and send secretly to the GM a list of moves to take during murder phase.
Legal actions are:
   Attack(Player): Attack and attempt to kill any player including yourself.
   Defend(Player): Attack any player who attacks the player you're defending. You cannot defend yourself.
   Focus: Takes two turns. You automatically win your next combat and gain one Change-of-plans token. You can change your action midway though, but lose any benefit.
   Pass: Do nothing this turn.
Any actions not listed are illegal and will result in immediate execution, as will the action "Defend(Self)".
In addition, players other than may request up to one alliance with another player. If the recipient accepts, those players are now allies of each other. If they refuse, they lose one point. Ronin can never be allies.
once all lists are secretly given to the GM, the Planning Phase ends and the Treachery Phase begins.

TREACHERY PHASE:
Ninja can spy on any other player and see their list and role, and make their own list afterwards.
During this phase, any players may conspire to make a dastardly and secret Agreement.
Players in an agreement win if all players outside the agreement are dead.

Murder Phase:
Murder Phase plays out over a series of turns.
During each turn, every player's actions play out simultaneously.
In the case that two players attack each other, the outcome is determined by two rolls. If one player rolls higher than the other then that player wins and successfully murders the other. If the result is a tie three or below both players survive. If it's a tie above three both players die.
An attack always succeeds if the target isn't attacking back.
Between each turn players may spend a change-of-plans token to change their action for next turn. Focus does not cost two tokens.
Once all turns are over points are tallied and a winner is determined.

Roles:
Samurai:
   Samurai gain one point for killing another Samurai, and two points for killing a Ninja, Ronin, or Traitor.
   If a Samurai has more points at the end of the round than any other Samurai, then they win, even if they're dead.
   A Samurai cannot win by points if a Ninja, Ronin, or agreement win.
Ninja:
   Ninja can spy on a player between each turn to determine their role, list, and if they're in any agreements.
   Ninja win if they are the last player standing.
Ronin:
   Ronin automatically win every combat.
   between turns they learn what actions each player will take next turn.
   Ronin win if they are the last player standing.
Traitor:
   If a Samurai kills their ally, they lose all their points and become a Traitor.
   Any Samurai can change their next action to kill a traitor without spending a change-of-plans token.
   The Traitor can only win by being in a Agreement.
