I think the ones used on the first mission (the skeleton things with the grav-chutes) are called hot drop shuttles and the ones used in the Haebi mission are called drop pots.

Question: For m21, why is anyone flying the fully-automatic shuttle in the first place? All it needs to do is accelerate at maximum speed away from the anomaly, then keep doing so.

Spending several minutes squeezing into a space humans are not really meant to be seems counterintuitive when trying to escape from simultaneous apotheosis and orbital bombardment
Are they automatic? I've never actually payed attention to that. If so we need to change our course of action to whatever gets us out the fastest.

Not that there's a lot of haste, the little "two pilots, one seat" kerfuffle extended the turn date to tomorrow anyway.

If they're the ones with diddy vestigial cockpits, I'm pretty sure they're meant to be autopiloted (hence why mesk had to break open panels to get to the cockpit on the freakyroid)

I think Steve doesn't care about doing flight trajectory planning for us, expecially when our ride out of system is coming down fast. He's not even communicating with us anymore, probably because manipulator overload of unprecended scale is fucking up all communications. The shuttle would automatically return to the mothership (I believe), which is not very good idea to be in at moment.

That's my reasoning for manual drive.

You put Things You Don't Know What They Do in them and hope they don't explode?

What are the features of the container?  Does it suspend the items within in a gravity field?  Is it a perfect insulator?  Is it just a swanky glass container?

It provides Quantum Bad Stuff Protection. Don't look at it or it'll have definite characteristics!

Okay, so we can just know that it will handle anything placed in it without fail.  Thanks.

Containers are intentionally vague and come in various shapes and forms. They are one of the things provided to every character along with their standard issue MK1, wristpad and backpack. They can be used to safely contain various artifacts and are about as sturdy (or sturdier than) a MK1. Some of them are made from a transparent crystalline material that looks like glass. While others look like metal boxes. Specialised containers can be requested and/or will be provided when the mission seems appropriate (for example, the containers the team used to try and catch abyss bugs or the container they put the bell of infinite ringing in during the grate cleanup). A new form of containers recently developed is forcefield containers, although they are not normally given unless requested as mission equipment. Probably because A) they tend to explode if the projecting material is damaged or the field receives excessive damage. B) they're one time use and can't be reopened safely. Due to the aforementioned explosion, they have to be opened very carefully. C) they're probably not very cheap. On the other hand, they are very light, quite sturdy and don't require any physical contract with the object. On the other hand, they're magical and they are almost completely transparent.

Edit: I should re write the above and put it in the wiki.

Somebody needs to test how durable they are. Preferably in a room full of expendable noobs valuable human resources, with a megaton of nuclear explosion fun.

Thanks for the in-depth explanation.  I assume that the ones provided for M24 are specialized in that they are excellent insulators.

I have no reason to ask IC, but I'm curious: Has there ever been a need for an explosively-pumped EMP generator? Say, in the form of an EMP grenade? To generate massive amounts of magnetic flux without the friendly neighborhood ionizing radiation coming along? Just seems like it could come in handy, and it's extremely low-tech and cheap.

I have a bunch of emp claymores, not sure if they ionise the atmosphere though.

Clearly running multiple missions at the same time is a terrible idea.  The epic battle to see which team can cock it up worse has escalated again.

And Larry kinda gets blueballed in all this; just left with a raging bone spear and no where to put it.
