It's not the effectiveness, or the purpose, it's the image of a shotgun! You have to have people be able to see your gun and immeadietly go 'oh shit, that's a shotgun!'. Otherwise you just look like another dime a dozen soldier with a rifle.
You could just make it look like a shotgun, or buy a regular non-military shotgun. Or turn a stake driver into a CON weapon that looks like a shotgun and which has a kinetic amplifier at the front.

EDIT: Come to think of it, a Stake Driver modified to use a Kinetic Amplifier instead of a spike would work quite well as a shotgun. The air coming off of it could probably just pulp a person. It'll be just like No Country for Old Men! Except you know, more of a gorefest.
I have... An idea. If you've played Advanced Warfare, you're familiar with the TAC-9. It's essentially an energy-shotgun.

All you need is to drive a bullet into a kinetic amp and channel the energy!

That could work actually. It does just use directed anergy.

As an alternative, there was the thundergun from Blops.

How would you turn the raw kinetic energy to something else?

Hmmm. I'm unsure what to do with my tokens now. I could get a pimpcane and a universal amp. Or I could get the electro amp, a pimpcane, two force infusers and maybe a tentacle.

Go for the uni-amp, seriously! I mean, what good is it to be a Master at amps not to use the one piece of equipment that requires it (and was previously considered unobtainable save for wheelchair-bound amp specialists and lesser eldritch demigods)?  :P

Yeah, but in a pm with pw he said that the uni amp used more mindpoints to do something than doing the same thing with a dedicated amp. I guess I'm mostly just worried that I'd run out of mindpoints too fast.

Btw, it says the pimpcane is based on materials that got brought back from a mission. Does anyone know what materials he's talking about?

The data storage material from Mission 1. It changed shape if you willed it to.

<Armory list>

The Kin-amp has a stat restriction of "Nine."  I assume this should be "None."

Arr.  Going to have to reevaluate Lars to be able to use his amp, now that it suddenly requires +2 exo.

Beyond the technomancer amp, the new Exo options don't really entice me to purchases at the moment, though I do approve of the "requires organic body" idea. Most of them are useful, but the black halo sounds overcosted, given that there's a good chance that someone you really want to fool will be someone who automatically has the countermeasures at their disposal. There seems to be no mention on the battery prices for the mindfuck gun and elemental infuser

No... way... *dumbstruck*
Yeah, it's not the data storage. It has to be the Sentinel itself! ...It all fits, between how it grew piercing metal spikes to attack and the puddle of metal it left after the Bastards managed to vanquish it.

(Though now that I think of it, I am not sure anyone ever took sample of its remains, but oh well.)

There were still NPC's in those missions, remember.
