I'm with GWG on this one, a right-wing hellhole(as the guys from Prison Architect put it) is really overdone in fiction, I'd like to try to do a prison that at least attempts to do rehabilitation rather than incarceration. Though, doing things like prison labor for profit isn't incompatible with this; I was thinking for example something like a woodworking shop to teach basic carpentry skills while selling cheap furniture the prisoners churn out. We can really get creative with this if we put our minds to it!

BTW, my email address is tryrar@yahoo.com

Edit: Also, a big question that needs answered: How big is the various furniture? Do they all take up one square, or can they be multi-tile? This is important for planning cell size.

Also, I recommend either dropping prisoner capacity to 2 a cell, or raising it to 4 a cell and doing bunk beds. It's harder to plan cell layouts with an odd number of beds needed

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

Right, I am IN on this.

I say that we have two people to a 2x3m room, and that we try to rehabilitate them, with the convicts doing most of the labor.

For now I say we splurge 600 on a hallway with another branching off, and that one having to 2x3 rooms off it.

Yes lets have 2x3m cells with two men in each.
we should have 10 cells to a block, each block has it own showers and a rec room with a tv, small book case chairs and tables.

Each block get rewards (better food and drink, Tobacco) for good behavior of the group.

Edit, should we just put all the pluming in the non cell area and cut the cost down to just 4 toilet per 20 men?

That sounds good.

Eh, how big are beds? Are they single beds?

Is there an overarching goal here?  Just to stay in control of the prison and keep profits above expenses for as long as possible?

Pretty much, although a lot of things can go on.

As for furniture, it's size depends on what you want. You can get all furniture pieces for the same amount for the sake of simplicity. You could order a two-meter long bench for 10 credits.

Why are we debating how many prisoners fit in a cell? this is the Bay12 forums we all know we're going to build a spike pit, or a drowning chamber, or a dwarven Atom smasher, or a freezing corridor, or a Magma pit, or some other death machine to dispose of prisoners with.

so lets get to figuring out which horrible fate our prisoners will be met with and how we hide the evidence :P

I recommend a meat grinder and selling the results to McDonalds for a profit.

I Was thinking of one big room where everyone would be stowed but that would mean too many prisoners in one place, but what about a two 2 length hallways, one starting from... 20 y, 6 and 7 x down to down to about 15 y for starters? Then another one with the only difference being it's at the other side (16 and 15 x, I believe.), and a final one down the middle with glass behind all the cells with some guards patrolling the middle hallway, which allows us to see what would be going on in the cells.

Sorry about the graph measurements by the way, I'm not to good with showing areas through text, and yes I know you should start with x first.

Lets not have too large a room, we need to keep the number of prisoners in any one area low so they don't reach critical riot mass.

Sure other groups of prisoners may riot at the same time but as long as there physically separated then we can brake up each riot one at a time.

basically that large yard filled with 200+ prisoners is filled with drug deals and gang fights waiting to happen.
