Drinking wine and making tapes

Tonight was fun. Local pub was celebrating their Irish bartender's completing his 27th year tending bar. Beer-shaped cake was involved, and said Irish fellow (who was of course working that night) had managed to specially order in a case of Guinness which he then proceeded to push on every regular that showed up.

Was also fun watching one of the other bartenders come in as a customer, and end up getting escorted out because of being too drunk and disorderly. He happened to be on a date at the time.

Or was until medical reasons prevented him from taking alcohol. To hear him talk, you'd think my mum had left him XD

Apparently one of my favourite pubs is serving up $8 jugs tonight from 7. I think some post-work beers could be in order... how very grown-up of me!

Going to stop by home to change my shirt and possibly have some grub, though, so there's every possibility my motivation might evaporate in the meantime.

Went out tonight. GF is fairly livid, but Finnish bartender was quite happy to see me. As was her Aussie friend, who was actually the first man to throw in the towel tonight (poor bugger hadn't eaten anything all day).

The other (, actually working) bartenders were also happy to see me, because I tip well and also I'm apparently the only fucker who brings empty glasses back to the bar.

Bar had a DJ tonight, who was one of those fun DJs that queues up a load of classic fun shit as his playlist. Things went all the way from Nancy Sinatra to The Raconteurs to Iron Maiden (also a lot of David Lee Roth). Aussie man informed me that Doomguy == Link, and the random friend who works in marketing spent a lot of time and energy hitting on the bartender.

Overall, fairly eventful night!  Was pounding back 4,6% milk "stouts" for a fair amount of the time, as they made up in drinkableness what they lacked in character.

Yeah, well, said Aussie happened to live 10 years in Finland as a sort of "gap year" after being accepted to *extremely lucrative position* in the Oz Air Force. That likely contributed to his weirdness (and he has continued to disgrace his homeland by losing most of his accent and being entirely incapable of holding his drink).

$15 E&J XO is actually pretty darn good to my uncivilized palate - especially given that it's less than 1/3 the price of $50 Hennesy VSOP.

Southern Comfort is doing a promotion, where buying a ten-pack of premix lands you a free pair of shoes! Not exactly the sort of thing I'd normally wear, but they're close enough and it's not like I usually need an excuse to stock up on SoCo, is it?
Even if it is the canned variety.

About to crack open the first one. Aw yeah.
I only have about four days to drink 'em before I head off to visit family though... gosh.

This thread reminds me of when my classfellows were experimenting with ye ol' booze. Mainly, it came in the form of Buckfast.
