ASD self-testing fun! take the test, share your score!
« on: January 22, 2014, 10:50:03 pm »

There are a number of various tests for various things that can be found online, but some are better than others at what they purport to do.

This led me to this little gem.

The first test in the list is actually a pilfered clinical assessment test. Since I have take other tests, like the AQ test and gotten "whoa, holy cow boy, go see a brain doctor and get that checked!" Type results for the AQ self test, I went ahead and took this one too.

To get the ball started, here's my results

I am curious what other people scored, because -- yep, whoa nelly, look how tightly my score hugs that line! LOL!

*edit

Might as well take the others too, what the heck.

Friendship quotient score: pretty normal.

AQ score: Yeah, you should probably get that checked there buddy.

Empathy quotient: Meh, low end of normal..

SQ score: Kinda suspicious...

(Blech. Work to do.. later maybe.)

Here you go.

I was officially diagnosed with ASD, but almost all of the symptoms have disappeared in the past couple of years... and I had an extraordinarily socially isolated childhood, which I think caused my poor social abilities.  If you've never practiced social skills, there's no reason why they'd be very good 9_9

Took the first test.  I'm a little above threshold in social relatedness, bu for the most part I've been a loner since the beginning of college.  Otherwise normal.  Basically, it's what I expected.  I don't have any history of Asperger's and never suspected that I had it.

Link.

Note: I've never been diagnosed with anything. Also note: I'm a professional salesman, and even though the job is hard, I'm pretty good at faking it.

My score would probably be substantially higher if I hadn't lumped "used to do this and stopped at age 21/22" in "used to do this and stopped at age 16" rather than "still do it now."

I think that it sounds like you think you could learn better social skills, and you're dissatisfied with your interpersonal relationships.  You don't have to have something diagnosable to benefit from counseling... it's just hiring a coach to help you be better at things.  So, if that sounds good to you, then you should probably do it!

I.. have many of the constellation sympthoms of ASD, but none of the "facial recognition" problems normally associated with it.

I DID grimmace instead of smiling as a child though, which is a warning sign. Clumsy and with bad rythm too. (Really bad. Really.. really bad.)

I strongly suspect I may have ASD as a consequence, but have reservations, since I fail to meet a number of other conditions.

It bothers me that other people seem so... different.. from me. It's almost like being a space alien or something, and I would be lieing if I said it hasn't impacted my worldview in an adverse way. I have actually grown MORE misanthropic (in the general sense) over the years, and not less. People do some of the strangest damned things that I just don't understand at all without a lot of thinking that ends up making me feel dumber for having thought them.

I do have an abnormally high IQ, but that's just saying I am good at spotting patterns. It's only interesting in relation to other things listed, as it usually aligns with ASD like patterns in behavior.

I don't really know what getting a formal diagnosis would get for me, other than an expert outside opinion-- that's another reason why I haven't really planned on making the appointment and paying a doctor for one.

Vector-- do you think getting the diagnosis was beneficial for you?

Vector-- do you think getting the diagnosis was beneficial for you?

I had extenuating circumstances that made it one of the single most destructive experiences in my life.  A diagnosis is helpful only if you use it to help you figure out what to work on--or if it leads you to a place of satisfaction, in my opinion.  If you use it to say "Well, I guess that's that and I really am different from and cut off from everyone else eternally!" then you are pretty much fucking yourself in the foot.

That is very unfortunate to hear.

You have my condolences.

The major issue I have, and that I struggle with, is that it bothers me more that people seem to do completely irrational, batshit crazy things, and that they seem to be emotional bombs ready to go off, more than anything.  That could be a part of the (quite likely abusive) nature of my parenting, especially from my dad. He's a Korean war vet, and used to be a medical corpsman, and has seen some really morbid shit-- and it's left him... .... a bit unhinged.  He was very adamant about always being in control of one's emotional state, as he saw may people he knew panic and get blown up, and frequently (and graphically) recounted how the VC used orphans as bombs to kill whole squads, by wireing them up as bombs.

It's left me a bit heartless, and slow to give emotional support.

I have to come to trust the person, and feel them out first, before I can make that leap. Childhood conditioning is a bitch.

I try to overcome it, but I think it will always be there.

But damn, look at me ramble!

This thread is about ASD testing, not 'wierd's scary childhood'! (But I deffnately feel for you Vector. If you ever want to swap stories about insane childhoods, drop me a PM. Mine's one that deserves a movie, I swear.)

Let's see more scores! You guys CAN'T be more screwed up than me! Don't be shy!

Here's my results.

That said even though I cleared three categories I'm not too worried. There were several questions that I really think deserved a "sometimes" answer, because I'll do it occasionally but not constantly. (Also I'm gifted, so a few of those answers I'd say yes too more because it's something my brain does in it's spare time on top of what normal people's do, not because I'm missing something normal.)

This is a very good point.

Voila It says I'm awkward. I've really grown in the past few years though, which helps.

My sister has been diagnosed with Asperger's however.

RAADS-R:
Total score: 83.0
Language: 5.0
Social relatedness: 38.0
Sensory/motor: 19.0
Circumscribed interests: 21.0

I have no idea what any of these numbers mean, the results graphs feel really contradictory... Wait, is that part of the test?

Although I seem to fit the "neurotypical" pattern to a T.

The 3 curves represent the standard distributions of the 3 demographics.

Neurotypical is yellow. Most NTs will cluster around the hump, but some will be on the long tail.

ASD people and suspected ASD people are the 2 blue lines, and will cluster around their humps respectively.

To use the chart, you look at your score, and plot where it would be in the space.
Mine is in the "still ambiguous, but noteworthy" area where the two distributions meet.

If yours is in the "very likely to be NT" clustering portion of the yellow curve, you are very likely to be NT.

Again, my score is either "approaching cluster" for ASD, or "Very long tail" NT. Eg, I might have ASD, or I could just be suffering from some kind of latent psychosis from a mentally abusive childhood. (Or, could just be a total asshole and not know.)
