Spoiler (click to show/hide)

awesome update, shame about maud`dib. but these things do happen in df :)

Journal of Maub`Dib

...The pages are bloody, and the hand writing is completely different...

Maub`Dib is dead, i found this journal in his room.

His death was a glorious one, fighting off the greenskins til his last dying breath!

May we strike down every last one of those filthy creatures, for yet another good dwarf has fallen to their wicked hands.

May Armok grant you peace Maub`Dib.

13th Moonstone
One of our residents has gone all funny and is carrying all manner of detritus to the craftshop. I wonder what they're up to.

19th Moonstone
The crafter came out of the shop carrying a shield made out of cockatoo bones of all things. It's a strange item, but beautiful. Christopher Walken has been given it to carry.

16th Obsidian
A huge troupe of Dark Stranglers attacked us today. The soldiers drove them away, but one of them died and Thanatos lost a hand to a bear one of them was riding.

21st Slate
One of the jewelers who arrived a while ago has locked himself in the jeweler's workshop. Not sure what he thinks he's going to do with a single sardonyx.

2nd Felsite
More migrants have come to join us. I hope they don't mind sleeping in the dining area, the masons haven't built any new homes for a while with all the workshops they've been working on.

3rd Felsite
The jeweler came outside today... Somehow he managed to make a bed out of a single gemstone... I... I don't know how that works...

9th Felsite
One of the hunters says he spotted a Minotaur nearby. I think I can hear it bellowing from here.

13th Felsite
Our soldiers went to fight the Minotaur. It strangled one of the axemen, crushed the skull of a lasher, broke a swordsmans back and then fought Thanatos. I saw the things body, Thanatos must have cut it's leg first to stop it running before hacking of it's left arm, slashing it's hand and then hacking off the right leg. The beast must have bled out from that. It sure was ugly, I hope there aren't any more around.

16th Felsite
We spotted a group of squat frog-things on the horizon. They didn't look friendly, what with their spears and shields, so we ran into the hall while the soldiers went to await their arrival at the depot, said something about bottling them up in the alleys between the houses.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Things... Did not go well. Just two or our fighters survived the fight. Mr.Mountain and Christopher were the only ones who walked away from that fight alive. The others were swarmed and dragged down to be stabbed over and over by the vile things. Luckily we prepared enough coffins for them to be buried straight away.

It was with great solemnity that three human bodies were carried into the crypts below the hall, and it was with great solemnity that they were laid to rest. The founders were each present, as were the families of the dead. Rismal Barkov and her child stood before the coffin of Artyom, deceased swordsman. Before the coffins of Thanatos and Stukos there stood only those who had come to know them in life.

Dear Diary, I know that I haven't talked to you in awhile.
Things get a little crazy around these parts, on the 13th of moonstone some guy went all loopy.
Took a bunch of garbage into a shop, locking the door.
A week later he came out, all haggard like he had a fight with the in-laws, and lost.
Anyways the point is he made this shield out of bird bones, one of those birds that talk,
the guy upstairs calling the shots had a look at it, then gave it to me. Must have
thought it was a piece of junk, I find it very nice. Beautiful. Almost.
Oh and another crazy thing, another guy got all funny too a few months later
and made a bed out of a gem. Yeah a gem, just one the size of my fist.
Now it is a whole bed, mind boggling.

Not too long ago, like a few days. Things went from ok, to downright grim.
Some creepy little frogmen croaked their way to our merry little home,
carrying sharp pointy sticks. The guy upstairs had us stand at the depot and
maybe, scare em off or something. Well that's not how it went mostly, everyone died.
Save for me, of course how else would I be writing this? and Mr. Mountain, a happy
go getting guy, can't use his legs from a broken back and all, at least last I heard.
Didn't see him during the fighting, just someone said he made it too.
I still remember it too like it was yesterday, maybe it was yesterday, my
mind is doing funny things lately. Anyways the little frog guys despite
being so little, managed to pull grown men onto the ground and stab them
many times. Oh the blood, and screams, I tried my best but couldn't save them.
Dear Diary, why do people say that? Not like you write back, that'd be crazy.

A few things, firstly I really hate nightwings. The things just don't die easy. Secondly, I hate sieges and the FPS issues they leave. Thirdly, I'll have an update sometime soon, but I keep getting distracted by playing more time and having to look at a longer write-up each time I go to do it.

Hmm, the fort is several years old now and I still haven't got any more progress done on the Abbey itself. Too many invasions, too many migrants. I think I need to turn off invasions for a while so I can get the armour and weapons they've left melted down and get the town finished and clear some room for the Abbey. There's a lovely little spot covered in hills that I'm leveling away that I want to build it on.

22nd Malachite
The masons are constructing a soap workshop so the doctors can clean anyone who gets injured properly. Good thing to, we get into so many little fights out here it's only a while before someone catches an infection. Especially with all those new people who came into town earlier today. We're going to attract even more enemies now.

11th Galena
A wax worker just stopped in the middle of hauling some stones to the masons shops and ran over to the craftshop muttering. This place is getting to some of us.

14 Galena
The caravan from home has arrived. We traded some old clothes and armour for wood and drink.

17th Galena
A warband of goblins arrived to try and slaughter us. Between our traps, the caravan guards and our soldiers they were forced to flee with just a single caravan guard killed. The leader was riding a huge bird with a beak like a colossal pair of shears. It was wounded in the fight and one of our lashers chased it down and whipped it to death.

5th Limestone
The wax worker stumbled out of the craftshop earlier with a hematite earring. It's very nice, but not particularly useful.

28th Sandstone
Yet more people are arriving here asking where they can stay. This is going too far, we need to do something about all the homeless people we have.

14th Timber
A group of foul things... huge winged men with skinless jackal heads... unclean monsters... was seen approaching. They are armed and their war cries echo off the caves spire.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

We dispatched our soldiers to fend them off, with any luck they will be little harder to kill that goblins.

15th Timber
This is bad, the monsters, Nightwings I've heard others call them, killed one of our soldiers, maimed others and sent them all fleeing back here. They say that they only managed to kill one of the things. They've paused in their approach among the dunes to the south, taunting us with their howls and mocking laughter.

23rd Timber
We've drafted a small group of archers from the civilians, hopefully they can drive off the nightwings with a few volleys.

26th Obsidian
After weathering several hails of arrows with few injuries the nightwings left, snarled insults the last sounds they made as they flew away.

16th Slate
More people have come to dwell with us. We can't house the people we already have, why do more keep coming?

15th Felsite
Some time ago we placed traps around the lower cave and opened the trapdoor that sealed it. Since then we've caught a number of those hairless things, but today we caught something wonderful. Two giant swallows. Beautiful things. One of the animal trainers swears that ones male and the other female and that he can breed them and rear the chicks. Good luck to him I say, I'd love to see some of them swooping around the town.

A pack of Tigermen attacked us. The soldiers killed them with no casualties. I'm impressed, the things looked quite fierce, but they fled after a few arrows and axe blows struck them.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

27th Felsite
One of our craftsmen came into the hall today holding an amulet made of hematite and screaming about it being his best work ever. I think there's something odd about this place.

Aye, I actually have several I've been meaning to edit into my posts but I keep putting it off.

I might as well get that done now that I have nothing much else to do.

Woops, forgot to mention I was taking a break for report writing and exam revision. I'll pick this up at some point, might be able to get something done on it in the next few weeks since my lectures are off in preparation for the exams.

Well, my exams are done, other extraneous matters that came up immediately afterwards are taken care of, so I can start this up again if there's interest.
