This guy has replaced the surface with a chess board made of silver and steel road,also this fortress is infested with necromancers and their undead,Maybe my next embark will be better equipped to deal with this foul place of evil,also there is a stairway to the circus

That's normal. In fact you should be thankful, because now you don't have to replace the surface with a chess board or build a stairway to the circus.

yep,now all I have to deal with are the magma creature's the clown's and some FB that was running around

I got kinda what I was expecting but I don't see how my dwarves can last long enough to make a prospering fortress when there are a number of problems

1 The most distressing of these problems is that my dwarves refuse to pull any levers

2 There is a Forgotten beast wandering around,and he's not made of salt or silt

3 6 Necromancers,need I say more?

4 if my dwarves survived long enough then they will find the fact that there are no trees

A chance for my dwarves to survive? alas I should have expected it to be impossible,did you have to leave that Forgotten beast stomping all over the place?

Hehe, I really don't think it should be that bad. I mean, there are decades worth of supplies scattered around the map. You just need a place to hide until your military is ready.

unfortunatly you didn't leave many places to hide,most of the big structures where infested with something,I mean a bronze colossaus took to duking it out with a dragon in the tower,and zombie bit's make the civilians reluctant to do what I told them,what spots wearn't infested where far far too small to be of use,what do those levers in the tower do anyway? my civilians refused to pull them

Yeah, you have to unforbid the mechanisms in the levers before you can operate them. The easiest way to do this would be from the stocks menu.

I have a work in progress that could be used by others for megaforts. It's eventually going to be a 79x79y40z block of cast obsidian in the ocean, half above water half below. Right now only 25z levels of the block are completed. I could provide a save file, but you'll have to give me an alternative site to upload it because the save is too large to be uploaded on DFFD. (They have a maximum of 100mb, the save is 157mb)

1 designate-(something)-reclaim buildings/items

2 seal area off? dig a ditch? Military Embark?

3 I am actually dealing with my first Necromancer who hasn't run afoul of any FB's, Titans, or Goblins. But I'd suggest making use of that magma. (6? Hmmm... actually, wait them out if you can. I had to reclaim several times because of my undead problem, but I eventually got it to the point where I've walled off multiple sections of the map via my stockade. Necromancer is still alive, so I may still yet die. Point being, be stubborn like a dwarf.).

4 If it's a reclaim, there should be beds left over. Also, your wagon can be taken apart for wood. Plus, caravans, whether  they make it or not, are also made of wood...

also, you need to unforbid everything - workshops - levers - items - furniture - ect
easier to start over - and faster to get to where you want oddly enough

Not to mention that you're undoubtably going to get kobold ambushes - from little bastards that are trap immune

I gave up on that and just went back to playing advmode,but those poor kobolds would end up torn apart by the FB or the hydra or the dragon or the undead or the necromancers......
