Well, how's about being close and personal? See the things from the character's PoV instead of that omnipresent third-person narrator. Describe it from what best you think the character can see (ie Bad Engineer = Big Hole that probably needs a lot to repair//Good Engineer skill = Probably easily repaired by improvised thing...)

Oh! Also I do like how you introduced...that thing, given my limited viewpoint. :I On that note..

Thanks for the tips, I'll certainly try to do something like that, I just tend to default to the narrator voice because it's easiest for me.

And thanks, you have no idea how many rolls goes into each turn of this game to determine this stuff.
