I started answering your question, b ut gave up when my calculator died and excel started rounding up numbers for no reasons (I don't care what you say, 6*10^-13 s/s IS significant!)

Well, apply the conservation of momentum... photons have momentum after all, just not a lot. From E=pc and E=hf you could find the required parameters for a laser inputting as much momentum as the Earth is losing. I shall do the calculations tomorrow, seeing as I am off to bed now...

It would probably be better to do this, while simultaneously focusing power on the earth from the sun, so that total energy equilibrium of the planet's atmosphere is conserved.

Releasing large quantities of energy into space has to come from somewhere, afterall.  If we beam LOTS of energy from the sun onto the planet from space, we can selectively heat one side, and have radiant energy push on that side. It also supplies the energy to re-radiate on the other side of the planet.

Now your energy expenditure is simply on moving the energy around.

Of course, doing that would probably kill most of the life on the planet, but whats a few hundred billion lumens of energy between friends, huh?

Well, if we assume the atmosphere has been removed to simplify calculation, we can safely say that life will suffocate.
