Scream in panic and start shooting any rats that are near me if I'm still alive by the time it's my turn.

Switch to the knife to conserve ammo. Knife Giant Rat 3 to death.

((Unless I'm mistaken that should be 4~ stabs with the knife.))

You are mistaken I'm afraid. It's actually 5. Since you already have it in one of your hands you're going to just go to town on the rat. For like... 2 stabs most likely, unless you miss an insane amount. That being said...

Waiting on:
Kira
Dirk
Cromwell
Kyle
Selina

No one! Gonna do some updatin' here in a bit.

That was the ~ bit. Couldn't remember if switching hand-equipment-slot thingies costed AP or not.

And this, my friends, is why you always max out Agility in Fallout.

Indeed. 10 AGI is pretty much a constant out of all the builds/whatnot I've seen. It's just that good.

((Of course. This is a Fallout game. You can't be great at everything, which is why Kira is specialized towards Big Guns.

Also, outdone soon? What do you mean by that?))

((Well, think of it like DnD a rogue is in most cases more useful than a fighter as a rogue has many uses compared to the fighter who is mostly for combat.))

Vault Dweller’s Turn

Quote from: Kira Pasternak
Stab Giant Rat 3 [-2]
Stab Giant Rat 3 [-2]
Stab Giant Rat 3 [-2]
Stab Giant Rat 3 [-2]
Stab Giant Rat 3 [-2]
End Turn [10/10]

In an effort to conserve ammo Kira decided to knife the rat to death. After all, it was just a big rat right? She was strong enough that she should easily be able to hit a vital organ or two with a couple stabs… Right? Unfortunately that proved to only be wishful thinking. It took several stabs and a fountain of blood before the giant rat fell dead.

Quote from: Kira’s Rolls
Stab Giant Rat 3
Chance to Hit: 90 – 6 = 84%
Roll: 12 [Hit] [-2 HP]

Stab Giant Rat 3
Chance to Hit: 90 – 6 = 84%
Roll: 9 [Hit] [-1 HP]

Stab Giant Rat 3
Chance to Hit: 84%
Roll: 20 [Hit] [-3 HP]

Stab Giant Rat 3
Chance to Hit: 84%
Roll: 79 [Hit] [-2 HP]

Stab Giant Rat 3
Chance to Hit: 84%
Roll: 45 [Hit] [-4 HP] [Dead]

Quote from: Cromwell Jackson
Fire 10mm Colt at Giant Rat 6 [-4]
Fire 10mm Colt at Giant Rat 2 [-4]
End Turn [8/10]
Cromwell gains +2 AC until next turn

Finally seeing some viable targets, namely those almost right next to you, you take careful aim and fire. You’re pleased to see the first rat drop without too much issue. The second rat was a little harder however. Harder to watch that is, somehow when you show it the rat exploded into a shower of gore coating those nearby in guts and entrails. You can’t help thinking that your gun isn’t standard issue for some reason.

Quote from: Cromwell’s Rolls
Fire 10mm Colt at Giant Rat 6
Chance to Hit: 95 – 6 = 89%
Roll: 56 [Hit] [-12] [Dead]

Fire 10mm Colt at Giant Rat 2
Chance to Hit: 90 – 40 – 6 = 44%
Roll: 1 [Critx2] [-22 HP] [Dead]

Quote from: Kyle Johnson
Shoot Giant Rat 2 [-5]
End Turn [5/8]
Kyle gains +3 AC until next turn

Try though he might Kyle is just unable to extend his foot the two meters it would take in order to hold down the remaining Giant Rat. Which sucked, the mental image is hilarious. Never-the-less, he takes aim and fires. Unfortunately his inexperience with small guns makes the shot nearly impossible to make in the dark. The bullet strikes a boulder nearby.

Quote from: Kyle’s Rolls
Fire 9mm Mauser at Giant Rat 2
Chance to Hit: 60 – 20 – 6 = 36%
Roll: 40 [Miss]

Quote from: Dirk Brown
Fire Shotgun at Giant Rat 2 [-5]
End Turn [5/8]
Dirk gains +3 AC

Not even bothering to aim Dirk unleashed a wall of shot at the final giant rat. As one might expect the rat was blasted into a dozen pieces. Shotguns are awesome!

Quote from: Dirk’s Rolls
Fire Shotgun at Giant Rat 2
Chance to Hit: 95 – 6 = 89%
Roll: 85 [Hit] [-21 HP] [Dead]

COMBAT END
All Vault Dweller’s gain 93 Experience!
Kira gains +5% EXP due to being Combat VIP! [Killed most enemies] [97]
All Vault Dweller’s gain +1 Health due to sleep!

Taking a few minutes to examine the scene the Vault Dwellers are unamused to say that they couldn’t find anything worth finding. Even worse they could barely drag themselves much further before they fell asleep. When they woke up at about 0600 [6AM] they would be rejuvenated! Though still covered in blood…

Spoiler: Kyle Johnson/Kj1225 (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Selina/Ranger Cado (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Group Inventory (click to show/hide)

Well didn’t go so bad. If you guys hadn’t lost that initiative roll you would’ve gotten through without any pain at all! Too bad that didn’t happen yeah? Well, you guys are free to travel with your newly gained experience. Too much? Too little? I’m cool with boosting or nerfing EXP gain within reason.

Use First Aid on myself. If six hours past, use it on Dirk too. Everyone else should be okay.

((We could use more EXP, I think. Both in combat, and as quest rewards. I remember it being relatively easy to get to lvl 2 in Shady Sands.))
