A man walks into the room. A cyborg by the looks of it. Cybernetic eye, respirator, mechanical arm, and a mechanical voice. He salutes you and motions his hand for his servants to enter. They're carrying a crate with an insignia of a tombstone etched into it. They open it and reveals your new uniform: black reinforced kevlar, lightweight steel skullmasks (with in-built comms and HUD), black pants, steel-plated boots and weapons. A lot of weapons.

"My designation number is 66. I am your supplier. If you require anything, call. There is a holopad in this room and you may contact me in the HUD of your masks. Your ship is being outfitted right now." 66 takes out a devices and lifts each of your sleeves up and begins tattooing a tombstone on your shoulders.

"The Lord Captain will debrief you soon. Get some rest, Reborn."

66 pulls out a sniper rifle and a small case from the crate. He opens the case, revealing three different scopes.

"The Blackeye. Effective range 1200m. 4x magnification. 8x magnification. 16x magnification. Comes with infrared and nightvision." He pulls out another case. "Armor piercing, ballistic, hollow point, tracer, etc."

He pulls out another case, much larger than before. "The Ballista 40. AT Rocket Launcher. Effective range 300m. Also different satchel explosives, anti-personnel, anti-tank, and grenades."

He puts the weapons on the table. He turns and grabs a shotgun. "The Peacekeeper. Pump action shotgun. Effective range 25 m. The Hellraiser. Semi-automatic pistol. Effective range 150m. Fragmentation grenades. And your knife."

I know there's not much professionalism in the core these days, but I don't want anyone handling weapons while drunk. Personal weapons will be stowed in non-hostile space, assume we find anyway. I run a tight ship-there won't be any dereliction of duty on my watch...we might all go to hell, but we're going to do so quite efficently, I assure you. I don't care how bad your head hurts-we rise at five sharp, every morning. And I'll expect you all ready to go tomorrow, or I'll leave you behind.

Lucky for all of you, we're not on duty now and I'm not so much of a hardass I can't enjoy myself. So let's drunk while we have breath. Cause there's no drinking, after death..."


He glances over at the woman again, trying to catch her eye.

He's looking for a certain someone...like him...

66 finishes up by giving you the rest of the weapons. He puts them back into the crate and orders his servants to take it away.

"I will instruct them to put them in the Thunderchild's armory. Please, get some rest. You will meet the Tactical AI tomorrow. It will debrief you."

You all head to your chambers and go to sleep. It's no easy feat; you'll be going head to head with the bastards who screwed Earth. The alarm clock rings and you get up from bed. You get dressed into your uniform and head to the Tactical Command Center.

"Welcome, Reborn. Special Terran Squad 6. I am the Tactical AI, codenamed Tai. Your first mission starts as soon as we finish the debriefing."

The screen buzzes to life in front of you, showing the schematics of a shuttle. "You will intercept this raiding party. Intel indicates they will raid Gulf Outpost, a keypoint in defending the area against mutants. You will commandeer the Thunderchild and board the enemy craft. Scans show about 10-15 hostiles, armed and trained."

66 walks into the room. "The Thunderchild is ready for launch. Captain, please prepare your plan for the Reborn. If you fail, the outpost will fall and apporximately 4000 civilians will die from mutant attacks. Good luck."
