Hello Bay 12 this threads objective is to see if the Bay 12 community is capable theoretically of operating a space program as in sending probes and potentially manned missions into space. Now you may be wondering what on earth am I thinking a group of internet nerds creating any sort of successful space program seems outrageous and well the concept is and practically our community is to far flung to make anything happen IRL but we can dream cant we and thats why im creating this thread.

Pretty sure we already did this a while ago.
EDIT: And it was magnificent.

I actually found ye old Bay 12 Space Spess Progremme.
It was the first result on the search.
And the OLDER one.

I wasn't originally going to go this far but I realized how much I like using Hyperlinks.

OK I suspect the problem will be mainly trying to keep people interested. From my forum game experience it seems like people have a roughly three-day attention span and can be recaptured again some time later if they wander too close. This means if we need X people at a time to maintain the program, due to lack of attention span, we will need Y times that many people (where Y = the multiple of that three-day "on the job" period).

Promise me my personal rocket for a one way ride to space and thou shalt experience all the attention needed to make it happen.

Would it change your opinions if you could not be guaranteed a seat inside the rocket?

I am an industrial draftsman.

I have access to high powered CAD/CAM packages (exactly the same packages BOEING uses), and I know how to use them.

What kind of vehicle are you contemplating launching, and have you considered regulatory compliance issues in the national territory of launch?

The delivery of payloads into orbit without oversight is a significant problem, as there are serious political xenophobia issues to deal with (glorious leader's tumbling pidgeon and all that), as well as serious issues with space debris in low earth orbit already. That is why regulatory compliance is absolutely essential.

Well then we will have to make sure we launch on a sunny day because i don't want to get sick from all the cold wind.

Don't worry, we've scheduled your one way trip to the sun at night. It should be perfectly safe then.

We've included flashlights, a scarf and some hot chocolate. I hear it can be quite brisk in space at night.

Will i have to pay for the hot chocolate? If yes then i would prefer to take my own tea from home, even though it would get cold on the way to launch pad.

Yeah they nickel-and-dime you on flights nowadays. You're lucky to get a horrible little pillow and a packet of pretzels!
