A lord has sent me to a hamlet to kill a vampire, and i have checked every house and failed to find him (e.g, no blue marking). The TSK direction says go west, but there are no nearby lairs and I'd end up outside of the location marked on the map.

You can find vampires by talking to the citizens of the village. I think you ask if you can do them a service and they will tell you what the compass direction the house the vampire is in is.

If your adventurer is not very powerful yet, don't hesitate to keep some of those peasants between you and the vampire. Most of them aren't even important enough to be historical figures.

Keep following peasant directions until either a peasant tells you to go another direction, which means you passed the house and should go that way, or they don't give you directions anymore which means the vampire is one of the people inside. Keep following directions and remember that vampires are liars.

At this point you can check what the people are wearing and vampires usually have somewhat macabre trinkets that distinguish themselves. You could also just accuse all the people inside of being a night creature, there is no repurcussion as far as I know to falsely accuse a villager.

Once you accuse the Vampire he gives a speech and all the peasants in town will run to stab him with various cutlery upon sighting him. Usually this means he will slay a few peasants before a boning knife finds it's way into his skull. If you are an untrained peasant yourself, he will be dangerous to you.

Upon watching all the visible peasants die or be incapacitated, you should run to find more peasants in a nearby building to place between you and the monster if you are not a powerful adventurer because this vampire is stronger than usual and HE'S PISSED at you.

Should you heroically watch the peasants slay the monster and then heroically take the credit for the deed once you heroically emerge from hiding, you are profusely thanked and named as hero of their community for the service you performed in provoking the creature's deadly rampage through their small farming community. You are then given the only reward currently given in adventurer mode for services: being allowed to ask to kill more dangerous things for that civilization.

ok, - almost - all the citizens will sleep, some aside from the vampire may still be awake, but it does make it a lot easier
