So, you can rebuke it. Not command it. If it was 3 HD, you could command it.

Sorry for double-post, but Giglamesh, our Paladin of Tyranny? You and me?

We're going to be best buds. Only way we could be closer is if you were dead.

"At any one time, the cleric may command any number of undead whose total Hit Dice do not exceed his level."

Not "Half his level", just "Do not exceed his level".

Quote
Destroying Undead
If you have twice as many levels (or more) as the undead have Hit Dice, you destroy any that you would normally turn.
Quote
Evil clerics channel negative energy to rebuke (awe) or command (control) undead rather than channeling positive energy to turn or destroy them. An evil cleric makes the equivalent of a turning check. Undead that would be turned are rebuked instead, and those that would be destroyed are commanded.

It just sounds like a Bastard Sword for large creatures.
I'd say it's more like longsword:bastard sword::greatsword:fullblade

"At any one time, the cleric may command any number of undead whose total Hit Dice do not exceed his level."
That's potential, over multiple rebukes or individuals.

Yeeeah, I figured that. Alright, I'll just rebuke him, then do a charge.

Taking the discussion with GWG to the OOC thread.

A cleric, a rogue(and a swashbuckler one at that), and a cleric/wizard. Drakruldus might not like melee combat since he's wizarding it, but Skitter and Corfax will/would be just fine.

But then also there's me, once I'm in at least. Dread Necros are pretty decent melee combatants, this early on.

ANYWAY. If my character dies I'm probably just going to make a Swift Hunter or Swift Ambusher.

Somehow, I think there are better places for a cleric than the front lines. And rogues tend to fare poorly when faced with the brunt of enemy attacks.

Have you heard of Persistent Righteous Might? Clerics do quite well on the front lines.

And besides that, I think you need to look at it in context. This isn't 'us being surrounded' this is 'us surrounding an enemy'. The rogue would not be the focus of the enemy attacks. But yes, he would want to be in melee, because flanking lets him get sneak attack. No, a rogue doesn't fare well when surrounded or focused on. That is true. That's not the same as 'doesn't do well in melee'.

And no, I'm not quoting you, I'm separating that from the rest of the sentence.

I'd agree with GWG that at this point Corfax does not want to be tanking anything, though he is slightly better off than a normal rogue, considering his natural armor. It'll improve a little after a couple levels for the extra bonus to saves and the dodge bonus at Swashbuckler 5, but it's still fundamentally a rogue build. That's part of why I went the way I did with the mechanical part of the character concept: the Rogue/Swashbuckler synergy + high threat range for crits gives me pretty good DPS against single targets and small groups that we can surround, and I expect we'll be seeing some fairly large groups as well (given the size of our party), which lets me fall back on thrown weapons, especially AoE goodies. On a related note, however, the synergy between my glove, Quick Draw, and my belt should make it faster for me to transition from the two styles, which cuts down on the chance of something catching me with my pants down, so to speak.

Which is good, because I expect that even with Precise Shot nobody will be very comfortable with me throwing Con poisons and save-or-lose alchemicals into melee.  :P

The clerics probably won't be too comfortable frontlining melee fights either, I'd hazard a wild guess.  ;)

The Grace bonus is to reflex saves.

If built right.

And I think we've been taking a random quote from a webcomic quoted humorously way too seriously.
