Medieval Ghostbusters - Accepting Pre-Pre-Alpha Testers!

Presenting...

Hello, everyone! I've spent the past several months working on a game called (working title) Medieval Ghostbusters! The general idea of the game is that several players control Wardens - members of an organization dedicated to rooting out evil spirits and destroying their ties to the material world - while another player controls a Vile, Loathsome Hellspawn, determined to kill all who enter into its domain!

Why am I bothering all of you with this?
The game is at the point where it would be viable to have people playtest it -- not for bugs, in this case; just to see whether or not it's fun to play, and what could be done to make it more enjoyable. I don't expect anybody here to go through the tedious process of repeatedly recreating bugs to submit reports about, I just want to get some people together to play an entire game through on a public server.

How this is going to work
If you're interested in playing the demo, just post here! Once we have enough people to play a game, I'll organize you into groups depending on what time works best for most of the people in the group.

Once that's done, I'll provide a link to a working build of the game. This version will be able to connect to servers and play the game, but it won't be able to start servers on its own. I'm not doing this to be needlessly cruel, I just want the specifics of the monsters to be surprising (therefore, I'm making it so nobody can go play with each of the different monster types to know what they are and what they do).

You say this is an indie survival-horror game made by one person. How shitty is it?
It's pretty shitty. You might say unbelievably shitty, but you'd be wrong. It's only pretty bad.

Graphically, it's not very good. Everything is recognizable as what it should be, and it's pretty good for something made by a seventeen-year-old programmer, but it won't win any awards.

Gameplay-wise, it's a mix of decent and missing. Remember that this is a pre-alpha demo. All the mechanics that are in the game right now are okay, but there are a few that will be in the final game that are simply not there.

Fun-wise, it's still up in the air. If nothing else, it's always entertaining to listen to people flip out over their mic when the monster surprises them.

Two last things I would really appreciate you reading if you're interested in playing
If you want to play, please say whether or not you have a mic. If you don't have one, see if you can borrow one. We're going to be talking over Mumble or something as a means of the Wardens communicating with each other and for me to hear any bugs you're seeing so I can make a note to investigate them. If you don't have a mic, don't worry; you can still play. You'll most likely be in a group with other people who don't have mics, though.

Secondly, if you're teh hardcorez and nothing scares you and you eat Slender and Amnesia for breakfast and then laugh at wusses and their delicious, delicious tears... Please don't play.

A description of gameplay and abilities and whatnot will be forthcoming soon. My goal is to hold the first round of testing before next Wednesday.

How the game works
The Wardens (that's you guys!) are plopped down in a haunted house. The monster (that would be me) tries to kill them. There are three evil altars scattered across the map. The Wardens have to destroy these. If the altars are all destroyed before the monster kills all the Wardens, you win!

Controls
WASD movement
Mouse looks around
Space bar is the interact button (press it to light candles / destroy altars / enter passages, hold it and move the mouse to open or close doors)
Holding the right mouse button creates a shield (be warned: it drains mana very fast. Mana regenerates over time.)

Other Stuff
Your shield repels all monsters.

Lights (candles in sconces on the walls) repel ghostly monsters.

Your sanity is drained by monster attacks, but regenerates very slowly over time.

Give me a time and a day, and me and my mic shall be ready.

Depending on when the test takes place, of course.

Would love to be in. I generally can play, weekends. I have a mic, but prefer not to use it because of my, ah, just-breaking-puberty voice.

I'd like to join you on this, Araph!

While technically my laptop has an embedded mic in it, I have never actually used it.

From trhe title i was expecting a wacky ghostbusting adventure with cartoony ghosts and protagonists ripped out of Team Fortress 2 fighting them off with blessed swords, holy water and arrows (filled or dipped with/in holywater of course!).

Alas i appear to be mistaken and this games atmosphere is more related to slender and its kin rather than the actual ghostbusters.

Anyway good luck on your project.

I'd like to play, I have a mic, however I do not like talking with people online unless I have come to know them as close friends.

Looks like I'm not alone in not wanting to talk hehe.
