So uh.

Heh.

Funny story.

See, I had never gotten far enough in an X-COM game to find an alien base. I had no idea what to expect. So I did an unrecorded test run, expecting to get massacred and would then save-scum (the only time I would have done so) just so I'd know whether further preparation would be needed. For example, before setting out I set the researchers to work on Alien Alloys so we could start getting some armor.

Like I said, I was expecting a total slaughter of X-COM forces. What I got...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Now, I leave the choice to you guys. Do I keep this mission, or do I reload and do the thing "properly"?

Keep it. Make it an unsanctioned drunken party celebrating the last successful mission that got way out of hand, that the commander only gets news of in the morning, and of course nobody had a camera with them.

How can you even not want to keep this? So early on, against all odds, you have managed to pull off some of the main requirements of the game!

Agreed.    Keep it.   It won't be any fun if we lose TOO horribly.

Who died?
Checking the current soldier list and the most recent OP roster, looks like the casualties were:
Sgt John DakkaDakka (died when something down the corridor he just fired a couple of explosive shots down shot back)
Sq Tom Walman (stood on a lift, got shot from above)
Rk Suspenders Magee (same)
Rk 733tPROkillz (shot from behind while hunting for the last few aliens)

Irwin Sodbestie is probably my vote for MVP. He stunned at least two of the aliens, one of which was a leader.

Also, no one is a rookie anymore. Everyone is Squaddie or better, and everyone (except Maxclone II. sorry!) got at least one kill.

Dammit, I don't even get an onscreen death.

Alright, let's try this again:

I was going to lay down a blanket ban of new characters named John...but I'll accept this one.

Name: The 2nd Floor John
Preferences: Bioweapons, if those are a thing in XCOM.
Bio: The toilet from the bathroom of the new American HQ, brought to life by a combination of pixie magic, eldritch forces, and the grisly remains of a Taco Bell party platter.

Rest in peace, 733tPROkillz. You will be missed a little bit.

edit: shit, Sirus ninja'd. I'll make a different character in a bit. :P
