Hehe, I can't say that my strategy in Toaster's game was too different, you know. Low profile, shotgun-blast the leading player, then be nice to everyone.

Speaking about that, I want my final showdown with whoever is still alive there.

Remember the thing about soul density? Well, let's say that reaching a predetermined amount of souls is a requirement for one of the to appear.

I do indeed remember.

Which is why I don't particularly want to kill bigfoot myself.

We're both +5. That would make 10.

Not enough science done. Need time to get weapons, armor, stuff better than iron, more stats for my team...

Then again, we do have an alpha strike one hit kill combo, but it's not guaranteed to work and backups are always nice.

Time for murder.

[Systar spd:4]
[Zolond spd:2]

Systar makes yet another bad joke and launches himself towards dark mage, his HAMMAH of doom ready to break some bones:

[Systar dex:6+1+1=8]
[Zolond dex:6]

[Systar str:2-1=1]

But he only lightly pats the mage in the chest.

Step one: touching him, completed.
Step two: touching him harder, pending.

Zolond just laughs, and then unleashes his magic on him!

[Zolond pot:4+1=5]

[Zolond dex:5]
[Systar dex:1+1=2]

[Zolond end:1-1=0]
[Beat your pot end:2-1=1]

[Systar end:4]

Zolond points at the bearded imitation of the rapper, and says his words. Lightning forms between him and his foe, but he can't control the power. The electricity goes across his body, making every limb feel numb. Systar also got zapped, and it feels bad, but fortunately for him, it was the mage who screwed everything up this time.

Zolond has:
[Paralysis:2]

Systar has:
[Slight paralysis]

Well, that was intense.

More science! Slightly more specific this time

You ponder about what to do, then decide not to try a bunch of words at the same time. Because, who knows? A plasma bear could appear and kill you if you do so.

[Pot:5+1=6]
A golden glow begins to come out of the air near your hand, and then, with a flash of light, you notice that it is...moving? yes, it seems to be flowing in a specific ovoid shape. Upon careful examination, and thanks to a few dust particles caught by the moving air, you notice that it seems to have the form of a head, with eye cavities and all. That's cool. You move your hand away, and also notice that it doesn't fall. Yeah, it is made of air, there would be no sense if it were heavier than its own material. Huh.

Leaving the air-head to float near you, you say another word:

[Pot:2+1=3]
A golden line appears and draws two rectangles attached to each other, one less wide, but longer than the other. Well, that's not very informative.

At least you are gaining knowledge, don't you think so?

While the ork begins channelling his inner forces, the Flimsy Wizard, realizing that he is in a vulnerable position tries to be ready evade all the possible incoming strikes. As no one is coming, and the xenomorph appears to be trying to do his own stuff, he decides to try flex his limbs until the numbness gets away:

[Flimsy end:6-1=5]

And he succeeds in doing so! Now he can move freely again.

Paralysis lost!
((This is so that you get less time off. most of you can just do an endurance check to remove most debuffs, as long as they are temporary.))

Derm, on the other hand, pretty uncomfortable with his foot, decides to do even more science:

You have another vision. Many beings, covered in natural armour, are marching. They make almost no sound, they just go through the tunnels. They have to do so. The hive needs them to gather sustenance. The monotonous march leads them to the outside, the transition from darkness to the bright rays of the Sun seemingly not affecting them. After even a longer walk, they reach their objective. Another similar being, almost as tall as a giant, is standing before them. They charge, surrounding it, tearing it chunk by chunk with their mandibles. Some of they perish, gutted by the beast, or straightforwardly crushed beneath it. It doesn't matter, for that have died serving the swarm.

Okay, that made you lose time. Time to continue:

[Pot:4+1=5]
You get yet another vision. This time it is you, sitting in wait for something. The vibrations in your leg tell you that something has been caught, and without hesitating, you quickly go to capture it. It cannot escape from your web, just helplessly wiggle, wasting his forces. You prepare your fangs to strike it, and bite it.

The vision ends here. You are somewhat glad that you didn't get to see how it ended.

[Pot:4+1=5]
Yet another vision. This time about lots of candies, chocolate bars and bubbles! Everything seems so nice, a rainbow paints the sky in the distance, as the sweet and colourful land extends itself, with some chocolate boulders from time to time. A unicorn goes flying around, and begins walking on the rainbow! A bunch of fluffy anthropomorphic bunnies appear and say hello to you. The look so cute!

Okay, that definitely was a waste of time.

Also, Relevant.

[Pot:6+1=7]
A bunch of nothing is shot with a lot of strength behind of you.

[Pot:3+1=4]
You can feel how nothing itself is disturbed in a definite radius around you.

And, that made you waste your time, mostly.

Otherwise I guess I can Xenomorph Science for a bit. That's cool too :-\

I'm a xenomorph, in a xeno woorld! Life is science, it's fantastic!

The GM feels lazy, you get the same vision ans Derm's first one.

Idem, but with Derm's vision number 2

Now, dangerous magic!

A think golden line appears, and then draws a giant bear. It attempt to bite you, you don't mind at all.

You hear moans and grieving sounds, as a formless mass of green faces appears after you. Their elongated faces stare at you. They want something from you. They want, your soul! Desperation fills you as the souls grasp you, tearing your body. But it doesn't hurt you physical essence, you feel like you are being disconnected from it, that what they are ripping away is your very essence. You open your eyes. Damn, that was uncomfortable. You examine yourself again, they didn't seem to do anything at all, but you feel more...fragile, in some way.

Soul meter:3/6

[Pot:3+1=4]
A golden line appears and draws a big humanoid beast. Thick and long tusks are coming from its mouth, and it appears to not like you at all. It tries to hit you and passes through you, as usual.

That they've seen you use.
My main concern is "Karen", the psychic individual. Not a single soul in this pit is geared or stat-pimped to counter that.
She will require some majorly high rolls to beat.

Yeah, well, there are ways to get around her without going deep on will, or even without going on will at all. I can tell you that.

Easy to say that when you know everything. For the rest of us, it's rather more difficult guesswork, which can be interrupted at any moment, backfire, or just plain not work.

I'm just telling you to do science and be creative. Also, analizing certain things can give you some clues. I was trying to give you hope against fghting a min-maxed character.


But, I can tell you two things:
1) Karen's ability to read thoughts is flavor, not an actual mechanic. I can't rationalize a way to put it in game without making it get ridiculously overpowered, or plainly useless.
2) She hasn't shown the ability to control minds, yet. It may or may not be attempted. And there is a way to prevent that in case it happens. Anyway, will should not be as overpowered as before. Think of it as a replacement for pot in some aspects.

I understand what you are getting at, Karen is a Glass Cannon. Possibly absurdly lethal, yet if you land a damn good attack... *pow* Lights out.
In order of concern:
 - Karen (Dangerous as she is unknown, and if she attacks with Will VS Will rolls we are screwed)
 - (Not-)Bill Nye (but is) the Scientist Guy (I'd assume he is the true personification of the GM's (un)holy all-encompassing knowledge, hence he is POTentially very dangerous. Might be able to be held to reason, but don't gamble on it. Not necessarily hostile, if we weren't intended to be harvested anyway.)
 - Our favorite Barbarian. Not-Conan (Likely devastating in close quarters, or if armed by the other two. Avoid close contact and bitch-slap repeatedly with mega-pow ranged weapons or enough Acid to almost make Chuck Norris feel colors. Recommended tactic? Push into bottomless pit while Karen isn't around (she can fly, she might be able to save/levitate him).

The diminishing returns thing might be an issue, of course. Maybe I should summon an elemental lion, instead.
