Well, it might seem dickish but I mean it was a valid strategy to identify weakpoints of a bot and blast off it's guns or something to get it beached. :P

And you can still do that. They just don't stay disabled forever, leaving people no recourse but to watch the match unfold upside down.

I was kinda bummed out when I heard about the update a few months ago about revamping Robocraft and adding regen bots which seemed weird since I loved crippling poorly made bots, how does the gameplay work out now?

If you don't get damaged for 10 seconds, you heal back to full health in a matter of seconds.  It used to be that you also had to cease fire for that time, but they removed that restriction.  E-Plates heal back uncharged, so they take twice as long to get to full, because reasons.

Crippling bots is still the main way to go, but you either have to commit fully to killing, or otherwise keep them from escaping.  Aircraft usually got the biggest benefit, since usually crippling them just made them drop down in some far away random place, allowing them to heal back relatively unharassed.  Sometimes just removing them from play for 10+ seconds is enough, sometimes it ain't.

For a while medics were blatantly overpowered on top of this, but with the latest patch, not too much.

That's your punishment for building a shit bot or playing poorly.

Now all you have to do is run away for 3-4 seconds and you're back to pristine condition. It's a situation in which the only two viable playstyles are to camp at the back with sufficient railgun alpha to completely delete somebody, or to build a bloated gunboat that can rush and overrun and retain enough mass to regen before more enemies come.

I genuinely preferred being crippled to this horseshit. I can blast 4/5ths of some fucker into oblivion, but hey, he's still got a rocket attached, so he blasts off over a hill and shows up at full health fifteen seconds later.

I am only explaining why they are doing it. Mostly so they don't alienate 90% of their fanbase.

Was that even a thing that most people complained about? I don't really bothering following forum whining for games like this.

It's doubly bad because of the rewards now, too. If you still got your credits for damage done &c. it'd be cool, since you could farm damage over the longer matches for more rewards, but now you get the same reward regardless of how long it runs, Bronze every time because your team sucks ass.

That's one thing in particular. Top on the losing team should get Diamond, second highest Gold. Give people who can't carry nearly a dozen morons some reward for trying.

That's one change I dont mind. I mean, if a chair was an option still, with some benefit to having it to counter the drawback of it being your main weak point (like maybe you only regen this stupid fast with a chair, and 1/6th as fast without? Please?), then I really wouldn't mind using it somethimes, but it does make designing a bot with some endurance easier.

Though the survivability of a bot is way too high with the regen as it is now. As long as you're able to disengage for a mere moment, you have completely healed all the punishment I can dish. And you re-enter the fight, I'm still engaging your allies, and you corner me so I never have the same chance to disengage.

The rewards do suck. Nary a decent drop in any of them, and they're worth so little you have to grind like eighty times as long to get the cash to buy a decent part. In that time, you could win something worth it, but you're more likely to get a bunch of junk cubes and a half dozen partial pieces of some dumb mask. When I played before this update, masks weren't even a thing yet.

Rods... are cool. Could have used those a lot earlier than when they actually came. I know they're not part of the most recent update, just thought I'd say that. I like the rods.

So there was an update. Its getting somewhere, at least, but I'm going to point out the problems anyway.

Why not for all the items! That just makes it less likely you'll get something worth recycling. The old flat 50% sellback prices were perfectly fine, these ones are still rubbish.

Regen would be a lot more tolerable if it was like 15x longer to heal to full.

If it was 15x longer you'd be back to wishing people brought nanos and finding no one to fight. Because you'd literally have to hide in a corner for 2.5 minutes regen to be relevant.

At a certain point, you'd have enough movement parts to go find a medic or head back to base.

To clarify, I'm talking about the time to regen, not the time to wait for regen to start.

It was much less fun before nanos, but it certainly was easier to fight opponents before the regen.

yeah i really don't see how regen is a good thing for game balance, especially with seats gone

what's stopping people from just spamming plasma bombers? shooting one down usually doesn't kill it outright, just cripples it to be mopped up later.
