What weapons do you usually use? I started using Nanos recently. 10k RP per match.

Everything.

No really. I have a rail tank, 2 plasma bombers, a nano hover, and 2 SMG hovers. Roughly equal playtime on all of time because I like getting the 2x first victory bonus.

So, I have that idea of using a light-ish very fast (land/hover)vehicle most for flanking enemy positions and drive-by shooting all those heavy tanks. I do that with one of my cars already, but it's not really fast or damaging enough so i had to make it pretty heavy anyway.
Any tips with that? Is it even viable? You can't really outspeed hitscan. Doesn't help I'm on T2 and thus have no electroplates and only SMG for damage.

Also, is there any way I can see better stats for my vehicles? I don't know how much they weigh, where the center of mass is or even if they are reaching the maximum speed for their movement methods.

You can try using a few more cubes, going for thruster+hover combination or thruster+wheels combination to make your car go faster.

Better stats are one of the things the community has been asking for but haven't gotten yet, I'd advice hanging in there for now. The devs have hinted that they want to release an API interface (or something to that tune) which should allow players to do, among other things, see centre of mass as well as total mass of their crafts.

Well, it depends. Hit and run SMG is hard countered by Tank smg. If your vehicle is fast enough though you can literally run circles around rails and plasma, and their guns can't turn fast enough to shoot you, and on top of that they'll usually be panicked and holding down the fire button instead of waiting for their weapons to get around to point at you.

My strat is to spend the first part of a match smg sniping and waiting to get an understanding of the enemy positioning and composition, then ambushing anyone making for my base then circling around the edge of the match taking people from behind.

I go more with 'flank at every opportunity'.  Interestingly, sometimes this means going straight up the middle, as the enemy is going around the sides.

I've wanted to build a SMG/plasma bike built for speed.  There's a certain point ~3/4 of the way through a match where you can just slip through and cap.  Done right, you can win the game without firing a shot.

I see. I already use thrusters and didn't notice much of a difference. Maybe because it's only 2 T1 thrusters. Gonna try to get 4~6 T2 or mix T2 and T3.
I still have to make my mind on movement. I only had gold for a pair of T2 hovers so I rolled with wheel/hover combo today. Funny, but turns too slowly. Hopefully pure hovers handle better than that.

The devs have hinted that they want to release an API interface (or something to that tune) which should allow players to do, among other things, see centre of mass as well as total mass of their crafts.
Oh god, if that's done right, the possibilities...

Oh, sucks for me T2 is still mostly SMGs everywhere then. Still gonna try to assemble something of the sort, if only to get a feel for the playstyle.

I usually just roll on the back of a group and rush fpr the flank when they make contact. It works well, except when it doesn't and it gets down to trench warfare or we get overwhelmed/flanked first, then my poor, fragile, assault vehicles just get melted down.
Sometimes I get impatient and go on the front as a scout too, but those end up badly more often than not, heh.

Thanks for the replies, by the way.

So something I've been wondering and the wiki does not say, Do railguns have infinite range? Because sometimes I can see the glow of guns/jets/electroplating beyond the sight distance, but a shot that seems like it should hit does nothing, the cursor doesn't even flash blue for hitting electroplate. And since I can't see them I can't tell if I actually did miss or the shot just did nothing.

My hint for going fast? Tier 8+ thrusters on a hover. Try to overtier that thrust and use electroplates for protection against SMG cuts and bruises, and never ever get hit with plasma.

Current bots:
-01, 'Bulldog MK-II', Tier 7: Heavy plasma cruiser using briannova style landship design aspects, namely the invertebrate cabin. Uses a full front and side enclosure of tier 5 robowolf sandwich armor, with high amounts of connection points, and a 1 layer thick sheet of triforce for the roof. 8 Tier 4 wheels. 2x tier 9 plasma, 1x tier 8. Tier 5 radar. Tier 5 Alignment Rectifier.

-02, 'Overseer', Tier 6: Hybrid walker/flier railgun, quadruped leg arrangement with triforce separated tier 7 connection stalks to hook up to the main hull. Tier 8 railgun with 2x tier 4 reloaders. Tier 5 radar. Tier 5 wings/rudders, tier 7 legs, main thrust is tier 5 thrusters. Tier 5 Alignment Rectifier.

-03, 'Drift Raider', Tier 8: Lightweight electroplated SMG hover, Doublestacked hoverbike blade arrangement, 2x tier 7 in front, 2x tier 5 in back, with 2x tier 5 rear facing rudders for stability. 2x tier 9 thrusters for extreme speed. Two tier 9 SMGs, two tier 8, one tier 7, still upgrading. 3x tier 8 tesla blades in a downwards facing 'grill' at the front for instagib ambushing, protected with tier 7 electroplating on the sides. Tier 7 and 6 electroplate shell, contemplating upgrading 6s to 8s. Tier 5 and tier 7 radar jammers for stealth. Tier 9 radar for high awareness. Very weak tier 7 skeleton due to space constraints, I really packed in the hardware on this one.

-04, Previously 'Jump Jet Infantry' which you can find in this thread, now work in progress 'Graceful Asp MK-IV', Tier unknown:
The Graceful Asp is an old hybrid plasma hoverbike/flier design that I'm attempting to bring up into either tier 7 or 8, currently struggling with apparant rudder control issues as well as space concerns with fitting electroplating, not to mention cube shortage.
The design will hopefully borrow the tier 9 thrusters from Drift Raider for superior speed.

-05, 'Blimpy', Tier 6: Medic Drone, Has near-perfect buoyancy, Tier 8 thrusters for forward movement as well as a smattering of other thrusters for all facings. 4x Tier 5 electroplates covering sides and 2x tier 4 for the top, far from full coverage but this thing is never meant to get hit anyway. 4x Tier 7 Nanos mounted below. Tier 5 radar. Craft is designed to tuck itself behind hard cover and hide in hard to get locations, as well as reach just about anybody needing healing.

-06, 'Flatman', Tier 4: Light Plasma Tank, Just a quick put together for experiencing treads, not likely to last. 4x tier 4 treads. 4x tier 4 plasma directly mounted on treads, tier 5 robowolf chassis, 4x tier 4 electroplate on front-top, 2x tier 4 on sides of front treads. Tier 5 radar, tier 5 radar receiver. 4x tier 3 radar jammers on bottom since I had more robot ranking. Very flat.

-07, 'Wonderful', Tier 6: Hybrid walker/tread... thing. Seen earlier in this thread. 2x robowolf legs on front, 1x tier 7 tread as the main body itself. Tier 6 and 7 cube framework around tread-body. Chair is mounted directly on tread. 4x tier 7 nanos as the best role appears to be healing due to being able to get to and fit just about anywhere. Tier 7 radar receiver, 2x tier 1 radars since this thing relies on teammates more than most bots due to horrid speed and fragile health. Tread body seems to make this thing quite survivable against plasma splash if you can get healed.

So something I've been wondering and the wiki does not say, Do railguns have infinite range? Railguns cannot hit outside of your view distance, SMGs CAN. Yes the sniper weapon has less range than the close quarters weapon What were they thinking?

I'm assuming plasma can as well because I've been hit by ghost plasma from nowhere with absolutely no visible projectile.

Plasma does dissipate after a certain range, but it's also a bit susceptible to lag, and of course people sometimes hack the plasma to make explosions anywhere they please.

I've been having a good time using this design:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGzgcKPJ2Q8

I've already upgraded everything to T5 and moving some things up to T6 like armor blocks and the guns. Thing is quite hardy.

Rail has shorter range than SMG

SMG can sometimes hit things just at the edge of the fog (where you see electroplates) but rails don't, you need to be closer.

The current tip for hitting bots on the edge of your viewing arc is "if you can spot it with Q, then you can hit it". I'm not sure exactly how this works for plasma - one question I have in particular is "if I shoot a bot at the edge of my viewing arc and then scram so the bot is now in fog but before my plasma shot lands, does the bot still get hit?". I think this fog issue is more apparent to rail because you have to zoom in to land a nice clean shot, whereas with SMG you really just spray and pray, or plink off 1 cube at a time with your tap fire.

Side note: SMGs are supposed to be jack of all trades, but given the way balancing has been going, they seem to be the strongest. Yeah, I have no idea how that's supposed to work either. But functionally, they're not meant to be the SMGs of FPS games. More like assault rifles, if you want an FPS analogue.

I did something similar, but for T3 because I was bored of fighting black cubes with guns. Pretty fun, and the occasional boss battle pops up.
